Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

You're better at videogames than me then because Sekiro kicked my ass.
Sekiro doesn't have troll level design, you just need to pay attention and learn from your mistakes.

It's so much different than completely retarded garbage like Dark Souls (the first one). Sekiro just shows those japs learned how to make games with time. You need to be completely high on cocaine and crack to think Sekiro is one of their hardest games when the game starts right off the bat on easy mode (the real challenge is charmless with demon bell).

When it comes to battle royales and extraction shooters, Squads are actually a cancer. All they do is punish people who want to do a relaxed run, because they're either up against an actual team who's using out of game voice chat, or because there's only so much resources you can use as one man. The amount of times I've taken down two players, only to have a third hit me in the back while I'm reloading is just fucking pitiful. It's basically tard wrangling. While I'm at it, they're cancer for devs too, as they massively lower the amount of people playing your game. Compare the numbers of solo players, vs players who can get 2-3 friends together to play the same game (assuming they waste money on your shitty games), at the same time, regularly.

And while I'm here, it is possible to worry about wokeness too much. Keep in mind, I have no love in my heart for that shit infecting everything I do, from tabletop to gaming to fucking reading, but there is a point where you're acting like just as much a reactive little bitch about things. I've seen people adore every aspect of a game, think it's the best shit ever made, but because the game says 'body 1/2' instead of male/female, it's woke shit, and they'll never touch it. There's nothing else woke about the game, just one word on a screen you'll see once per run.

I'm not saying 'body type' is a good thing, it's fucking stupid, but for fucks sake, it's not that bad.

I'll agree with that line of thought if and only if both are treated equally.
Body type 1 can be shirtless without a censor? Why can't body type 2? Because body type 2 is female.

That runs into a whole other problem of 'why are M rated games still treating themselves as for children? Because everyone still sees the medium as a childrens toy' shit, but, I do agree. Shit happens in games like Conan Exiles, and the few morons who run around with big tittied topless characters are my favorite loot pinatas.

Its all going to depend on how good you master the parry, i thought DS was fairly easy, more tedious than hard specially in Blightown and Demon Ruins but i never managed to pull off parrys, DS allowed me to just not use them if i didn't want to, Sekiro didn't and i never got the hang of it.

Open world games are stupid and should have a linear narrative instead.
Most open world games *do* have a fairly linear progression to the narrative, and the "open world" is effectively just an overworld map with maybe some tiny sidequests and collection minigames to justify its existence. If the open world is integrated into the narrative and just as importantly is *fun* to traverse/explore, I think it's fine. For that reason I'd argue that open worlds are over/misused rather than just flat bad. You mentioned BOTW as an example of an open world done right, and I agree. I'd also offer the Assassin's Creeds and GTA/RDRs of the world as good examples.

I would offer Arkham City is an example of an open world game where the execution isn't "bad" per se, but the majority of the game consists of contained episodes/dungeons so the city itself is basically just there for Point A-Point B traversal. I think Asylum is a better, more streamlined game for the choice of just committing to the linear narrative.

Remakes of boomer shooters inevitably fall on their face, because they are not fun in the same spirit as the originals. For me, one key problem is that they have a litany of cutscenes that interrupt the flow of mowing down every living thing on the screen. From what I recall, the originals had cutscenes only at the end and/or beginning of the game, which were nothing more than walls of text with a unique image, but searching the internet for only the cutscenes of the reboots comes back with hours-long videos.

Storytelling through gameplay is unfortunately becoming a lost art

That one word on a screen that you see once per run is them signaling that they support grooming children, pumping them full of drugs, and permanently mutilating them. It is that bad.

9.5 times out of 10, it just signals they support taking money from the fuckheads you just named, and accepting asspats for the bare minimum these inbred speds to clap for them. This is exactly what I mean when I say you can think too hard on this.

When you have to worry is when it starts infesting the rest of gameplay, ala, two out of three characters needing a flowchart to follow their pronouns/sexuality/whateverthefuckelse.

Agreed. Asylum was the best in the series. I really disliked Arkham Knight for forcing me to play driving games. If I wanted to race cars, I'd play Gran Turismo or Mario Kart.

Unrelated: Bulletstorm is one of the best action shooters ever made. The graphics were great, the animations were slick and the actual gameplay was fantastic. I don't understand how it wasn't a massive hit.

Actually, maybe I do. It was released around the time that the SJW infestation of gaming journalism had really started to take hold, and a game as unapologetically masculine as Bulletstorm definitely would not have been approved of by the proto-Woke types.

I still don’t get why we need a Last of Us TV show, yet they won’t give us a Mass Effect TV movie.
I want Pedowood and other commies as far away from my vidya as possible
if the TV shows where they completely disregard the source material, the gameplay, the characters etc.pp. aren't enough of a reason to not have any demand for a Mass Effect movie, I don't know what is

Have you seen the kind of shit the open sewer known as Hollywood is pumping out? Why in God's name would you want this?
Because I would love to see it done in a Crowbcat style format where they spend time using glitches and broken gameplay effects instead of using storytelling and lore

It would just be hilarious to me.

You know that, things being as they are, you'd instead get some homosexual romance in which every villain is a white human male

Last of Us is drastically more generic - which means is drastically less expensive to shoot.

A studio likely had access to 97% of what they needed to make a "Last of Us" TV show before it was even conceptualized - from locations, props, potential actors, and a barebones script. All you really need for a "Last of Us" TV show is a few characters who look/act like their video game counterparts - you could take those people and just film on a Walking Dead location/set. LoU is also an insanely linear game - so the script is just already there.

Mass Effect is drastically different - you would need custom props and sets (aka the Omni-Tools, Armor/Weapons from the game, a set built for the Normandy) and making realistic aliens (Garrus, Wrex, and Company) would ratchet up the cost drastically and not having them be realistic (or absent) would hurt the product immensely. There's no "close enough" show to a Mass Effect one you could steal props/locations from - with the exception of "space" from another Sci-Fi show.

It would cost too much is the TL;DR. Last of Us is going to be supremely cheap to produce where as Mass Effect would be an expensive nightmare.

I personally have never beaten Duke Nukem 3D, i probably could with a walkthrough but the novelty of the game wears off after a few levels. Blood scratches the rare build engine itch better but I've only actually played and beaten it a year or two ago.
Irrc wasnt the whole appeal of the game was the fact you could interact with the enviroment in duke which led to downright awful placements of keycards as a result also Quake > duke 3d

You can also not think hard enough. The Passion of the Christ was the highest grossing independent film of all time. Why not pander to Christians? Or conservatives? Or straight white men?
Come on, bro. Why are we pretending we don't know exactly the kind of people that work at western studios?

You start to worry when you see smoke not fire.

And if you call the fire department every time you see smoke, you'll have a shit ton of pissed off party-goers and barbecue enthusiasts.

So, according to your logic, Elden Ring is woke trash and should never be played by anyone.
