I don't have the time or attention span to sit thru 3 hours of these people talking about anime. I just wanted to share the mugs on display. Caitlin apparently goes thru hairstyles like a Super Saiyan. Also, lmao at the Funko Pops in Eisenbeis's background

So, instead of withering and dying like PULL, ANN will be subjected to a cleansing directed by their Kadokawa overlords?
I've predicted that, but I've also predicted stuff like they may get caught with their pants down in minors, they may do something extremely scandalous; especially with someone prominent out in Japan just to prove an extremely immature and petty point, they may get more concrete shit leaked providing evidence that their "progressive" agenda is a very real thing or that they may be behind some of the DDOSing of the Farms in Minecraft, or something like tax evasion, investment fraud, etc. before Kadokawa says "GEHT DA FUKKU OUTO". Some may see prison time, all however will be let go without reward.

Because I feel very nice, I think something will happen that's so out of the blue and blindsiding that's just snowballed into something that defies expectation, which is always how the beast works. Whether they believe me or not is up to them, even if they don't believe in "silly superstitions". That one was half insult and half warning btw, ANN. Take it as you will, and again, do not say I tried to warn you of your ways despite so sparingly and insultingly in the past.

The picture in question looks like your average Life Is Strange A.I. character generator. How is that James looks (barely) normal compared to all the other four on there?

And two people listing their pronouns.

If you can believe it or not, there are Japanese nationalist manga publications that aren't hesitant to egg on other nations and expats and immigrants, and while it's not surprising that they are not getting their own anime out of it, I'd fucking love to see a day when ANN interviews them and culminates into a brilliant circus shitshow of an international incident. They're practically Japan's equivalent of Ben Garrison, but in ANN's eyes that's all they see about Japan, along with whatever cum they guzzled from William Gibson and Blade Runner.
This is why Kadokawa buyin ANN makes less sense to me.
Nationalistic LNs are very popular. 86 u can say it goes to that part. but they arent blatant.

this being said, theres less subtle nationalistic WNs that im sure kadokawa wont miss the oportunity to cash in by adapting them into LNs.

How comfortable ANN staff would feel while promoting "kill the gaijin lets have sex with cute girls" LNs or "This women are just insane and bitchy unlike our cute yamato nadeshiko" LNs.

regardless of their quality, it's a very hard thing to sell if u are into identity politics.

Something is gonna happen there sooner or later.

Former ANN writer who's still at AniFem, Mercedez (she just recently decided her name is Cy Catwell but f**k that, here on the Farms we deadname) wrote a blog about her 2023 goals and one particular sentence caught my eye:

ANN wouldn't let her do "feminist praxis" in her reviews? Big yikes there Lynzee!

(Yeah, I know on my older posts here on my old Martha Speaks account I called Mercedez one of the good writers. That was BEFORE I started to notice her reviews going downhill)
It's such a bummer that Mercedez trooned out, she was one of the more based reviewers (as in she didn't totally trash moe slice of life anime like everyone else).

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! YOU CAN'T PORTRAY TRANNIES LIKE THIS!!1

ONIMAI: I'm Now Your Sister! (Archive)

As a girl, under Miharu's guidance, Mahiro starts to consider themselves someone worth caring for. This is something that will resonate with a lot of non-cisgender viewers, even with the sheen of lasciviousness. It's also worth mentioning that a lot of the pedophilic gaze comes from the anime's production team – a quick skim over the manga shows a lot less fanservice and an art style that leans more toward simplified and cute than pandering to lolicons.
There's not really a way to get past that, but if you are somehow unbothered by it all, then the actual jokes are...mostly fine? I guess? The humor predictably revolves around Mahiro discovering new aspects of his body and having to acclimate, ranging from old standards like “Oh, I can't pee standing up anymore” to frankly bizarre stuff like “I have to avoid masturbating because the female orgasm is too intense for me to handle.” I can imagine somewhere in there might be something exciting or relatable for people who have experienced dysphoria, but when it's coupled with the visual obsession over Mahiro's underage crotch and chest, I can't imagine it'll speak to many people.
Interestingly, this episode keeps fanservice relatively toned down. The bath scene is so obscured by blinding light fog that we never actually see Mashiro's girl body, and the camera cuts away before he gets on the toilet in the peeing scene. But the implication is certainly enough if you're squeamish about this kind of humor, and really, what's more troubling is how unhappy Mashiro is with the situation he has been thrust into. I'm sure I could come up with other, more academic ways to discuss why this is such a troubling show that I do not find funny and how it squanders some of its more significant potential.

The bolder parts in question are just proof that they’re trying to overtly analyze this anime for the sake of subtly adding in random thoughts about Western transgender craze that has nothing to do so much with the story of the anime, or the gender bending trope that has existed long before this new anime came out.

Even if one is not a fan of this trope, the way how this is written reads like someone who spends too much time reading NY Times articles and not a person that reviews anime, even for some possible 18+ themes that this express. I’m surprised, though, that this is coming from the mouths of people who like Ranma 1/2 and Revolutionary Girl Utena.

Not mentioned by the nutjobs is that the trannies on twitter came out and declared that this anime, due to having "the trans symbol" (male and female symbols) in the anime opening and gender bending as a theme, alongside having "super HRT" (read: a magic science-potion that changes someone from a 25 year old male to a 12 year old anime girl) as part of the plot, that means it is OBVIOUSLY a trans anime.

But it's not. It's blatantly not. At best it's AGP fetish anime, but in reality it's more "here's 4 cute girls and one is SEKRELY A GUY so he doesn't understand girls and has to learn while all 4 girls are cute."

Which is kind of telling to be honest. The troonies on twitter

1. Think HRT is a magic anime-girl potion, it's just not effective enough yet
2. Think "I'm suddenly a super cute girl tee hee and now I have to spy on all these other middle schoolers and learn their FEMININE SEKRETS uwu" is representative of the "trans experience."

Anime came out today. Decent art style, but I'm pretty sure watching it gets you put on a list. Crunchyroll of all fucking people localized it and they apparently heavily butchered it, removing several scenes, adding lens flare and MS Paint Clouds to hide some fanservice, and most telling of all, muting the sound on certain lines rather than localize them, even for the subtitles, because it was the main male lead pointing out that no, he is not female, no, he does not identify as a female, no, he doesn't LIKE being a little girl, and yes, he wants all this shit to end and for his batshit insane molesting sister to stop. I.e., they rewrote part of anime to pander to the troonies.

Sounds like another thing to watch subbed, if I ever get around to finishing JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.

This isn't anything new, ranma 1/2 came out during caveman times, we have a shit ton of genderbend anime and manga, it's never about trans shit
Now something like Ranma would be considered transphobic unless you completely strip Ranma's genderbending of its in-universe context. You can't ever imply that gender and biological sex are related AT ALL, unless of course you're trying to get barbie pouch surgery for the gender euphoria.

I have no idea why, but people love to push the narrative that Ranma is a statement about gender/trans nonsense. Google did one of their homepage focuses on manga and whomever wrote up the summary knows nothing about the series and how Saotome wanted to get rid of his curse. Are Mousse, Shampoo and Genma statements about furries or identifying as an animal? The writer labels Ranma as someone trying to escape gender, but ends up contradicting this statement twice by mentioning the fact that he's a guy :

It's such a blatantly willful misinterpretation. Ranma doesn't have any kind of gender dysphoria. For a show with a genderbending gimmick as half of its schtick at no point does Ranma ever see himself as anything other than a dude. But troons gonna troon

this actually makes my blood fucking boil, Ranma was one of the first anime I watched on mtv so seeing them butcher it to fit their agenda just pisses me off.
You wanna know something funny? there is trans manga out there, with actual trans characters some of them are even made by trans mangaka, but twittertrads don't give a shit about them because they're mostly indie and if it's not on a shitty streaming service it might as well not exist

Oh, really? Fuck.
This shit makes me yearn for the days of fansubbing being the primary way of watching anime subtitled.

Yeah, can you imagine Ranma 1/2 coming out in an era of ANNs and Wokies and Troons?

"This new Trans Martial Arts anime has a Trans Main Character marrying a GNC Lesbian and is Trans Trans Trans! The chuds are gonna hate this but she's TOTALLY a badass trans ninja trans girl! I've ALWAYS loved Shonen anime although I couldn't define it and have never watched any, and Shonen anime has ALWAYS been made for us trans tranny tran trans!"

"Wait why is she turning herself back into a boy and why is she deadnaming herself all the time!? Doesn't she know she needs to CRACK THAT EGG?>!?! This is sick and disgusting and wrong! The anime producers are doing Ranma wrong!!"

"OH GOD TAKAHASHI IS AS TRANSPHOBIC AS THE H*RRY P*TTER TERF AND THE FANBASE IS AS BAD AS THE MY HERO ACADEMIA PEDOS DO NOT ENGAGE DO NOT ENGAGE"

"Why Lanma Half's dub corrects the original script's unfortunate inherent transphobia by clarifying Lanmachan's gender dysphoria every 3.5 lines of text on average..." - Lynzee Loveridge ("Lanmachan, voiced by Monica Rial, delivers a stirring speech about the evils of voting for Donald Trump while defeating the resident White Nationalist Cisgender Fascist CHUD, Kuno, a name literally meaning "KKK member"...")

Remember, these are the same localizers that renamed "War Diaries of a Little Girl" to "The Saga of Tanya the Evil" (a term that doesn't come up ANYWHERE in any of the novels it's based on) because they were terrified people might not think magical-Aryan nationalist alternate-universe-German soldier in fantasy-WW1 was evil. They don't risk subtlety if there's a chance they might take enough of an L socio-politically.

Seriously, Ranma is all about a stupid meathead manly-man being stuck with the most amusing and horrific curse Takahashi could think to give him-- being a cute girl -- all while he has to deal with being engaged to the least feminine girl in manga history (at the time) and the relationship dynamics inherent therein. But there's jack and shit chance something like that could ever be examined in the year of our lord CurrentYear+9.

Although hey, they very faithfully remade Urusei Yatsura and I think the wokies all ignored it to death, so maybe a faithful remake of Ranma 1/2 might be in the works? Who knows. I'd laugh!
