Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

.never ever give a Troon the inch of calling it a she of its clearly a he or vice versa.

NEVER call a troon by their "preferred" name, it feeds into their delusion.
Or you can let Kiwis decide which name and pronouns they wish to use for trans people. Just because troons are autistic about pronouns doesn't mean you have to be as well.

There's more, AV Club has reported that Seasons 4 - 6 of The Flintstones have also been removed, and that neither these nor any of the removed Looney Tunes shorts are returning to the platform. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face. Penny-wise pound-foolish springs to mind, here.

I will just post this from the YT Essayist thread as it proves your point.
I've seen another person do a video on it.
This video does a good job explaining why some parents like watching this with their kids.
The youtube comment section is just as interesting as the video.

Has it been confirmed whether or not it was a temporary thing to deal with copyrights? I remember reading something about that, but I don't trust the current leadership at WB as far as I can throw them.

I now understand the argument for the ownership of physical copies of TV shows and movies.
On purely digital platforms, it is far easier to rewrite history itself to conform to current-day narratives. Media works are just a tiny part of a whole, and will be dealt the same way. Think of the kids who will be radicalized into hating women and minorities while watching Bugs Bunny in Africa, or Fred Flintstone being a prick to Wilma.

It's apparently permanent:
The cut content was licensed to HBO Max under an intra-company deal that expired at the end of 2022, according to Variety. One initial report suggested that the episodes would be returning the service, but an HBO representative confirmed to The A.V. Club that the content would not come back to HBO Max any time “soon.”

If anything, this should have been more proof as to why research and curiosity of torrenting should have been popular in the recent years. Even with owning physical media, I still can’t grasp how you can not decide to want to go on torrent sites and find the stuff you want instead of wasting money on these digital platforms that can and will take away all the “free” stuff that you think you own.

Removing The Flinstones in the same breath as the Looney Tunes is just despicable when you realize that the only reason they’re doing it is because of the fact that it’s just not “culturally approrpiate” and they’re disguising it as just doing business. They’ve been open about it for years, and no one wants to do anything about it.

Whoever edited the title is a tard. "Bitching about wokeshit" is part of discussing animation. Tell us to knock it off and be funny again or go start a new thread.

I love how the conversation has gotten so derailed someone actually retitled the thread to "discuss woke shit I guess."

Well I'm gonn try and liven things up around here....who's up for a round of fuck marry kill? Choices are:

Olive oil
Betty boop
Red-hot riding hood.
I'm not gay but what the hell.
Fuck Olive, Marry Betty, Kill Red before she kills me.

That's a fucking shame.

That's an even bigger shame. Who the hell is the Flintstones offensive to? Modern day neanderthals like Rocky Dennis?

NOW you understand!? Cruise the animation section of the Lost Media Wiki sometime. And it's been said to death but to shape your moral compass and way of life around the fictional lives of cartoons is maximum velocity autism. Unless it's on PBS or some shit, cartoons are meant to entertain not educate. Cartoons never die after all.

OK OK I admit in hindsight probably not the best thing to say on a site like this, but the discussion had gotten so bleak regarding woke talking points in animation either op or a mod edited the thread title.

My point exactly, though the HBO max debacle did get my thinking. Was red hot riding hood on HBO before the golden age purge? If it wasn't before you can be damn sure it never will be. Oh sure diswarnery can SAY "we only had the licensing agreement till 2022 and didn't renew it as part of the merger," but I call bullshit.

Merger my ass, you're still Warner bros. You made and own those cartoons. In a just; non clownified world there should be no reason to lose 25 of your own cartoons from your own streaming service. It was just the perfect scapegoat to trim "problematic content" from your service so you wouldn't get any (non existent) complainants.

Which brings me back to RHRH and really a good chunk of golden age material from creators like Tex Avery, Bob clampet, and so many others. Idiots like those at Warner look at those cartoons and instead of important pieces of animation history. All they see is "reel catcalling at a slender sexy drawing of a natural born woman? Get rid of it!"

And yeah it's a damn shame so much animation history risks being lost or st least hard to see without sailing the high seas or buying physical media. But it does make me all the more glad I quit streaming when I did.

They call it piracy but I call it not letting them burn the library of Alexandria again.

lol calm down when I said "what the hell" I meant "yeah sure why not" not "what the fuck is this shit".

You haven't given your fuck marry kill list by the way. I'm willing to switch Olive to "marry" if she's wealthy like in Genndy's scrapped movie.
