New vote starring very very soon. McCarthy believes he has the votes, let's hope not. I'm pretty sure McCarthy needs at least 2/3rds of the remaining defectors.

I think Boebert and Gaetz are very unlikely to join the McCarthy camp, so they need to swing all of the other 4, if the absent Republicans don't come back. Then, it gets slightly harder.

The resistance in 1855 had a similar number of holdouts, let's hope history repeats.

Considering the rules package could potentially go up in flames if this statement by a McCarthy supporting Representative is anything to go by, maybe some of the ones who defected to McCarthy could get cold feet if they feel their "concessions" didn't mean anything. To be fair there is a good chance they probably didn't and they just humiliated themselves for no reason.

This all assumes the remaining anti-McCarthy holdouts still stay the course and people don't move from that stance. Although on that note, Gaetz and Boebert were saying they "may able to get this done tonight" so who knows at this point.

The freedom caucus deserves what's coming to them, that is to never be taken seriously again (bonus ridicule and mockery free of charge) if they get nothing because McKarthy suddenly reneges.

Internally, these guys trade in promises to their enemies. I'm not particularly optimistic this will hold, but maybe someone will realize that the promises are only good for uniparty members at least.

I'm not optimistic at all. Maybe I'm the retarded one being paranoid. If I was them, I'd have Mckarthy video taped signing a written document and sealing with his finger print broadcast for everyone to see, while uploading the image and scan immediately online everywhere.
Then again, politicians seem to be the most retarded people on earth by design to mask the movements of their benefactors.

You can't negotiate with somebody that is acting in bad faith and has, you know, sworn to destroy you. It almost makes me wish I lived in one of these districts so I could re-enact that Omni-man meme at these people. Oh well, stronger men will rise in time, history is cyclical, etc.

Oh sure, that'd be great, if the vote for Rules wasn't after the vote for Speaker. The second they give up their votes they have no leverage and McCarthy and the rest of the GOPe will scuttle they rules and tell Gaetz and pals to pound sand.

Biden is doling out medals to ‘heroic’ Capitol policemen who (supposedly) faced death while protecting Congress from the January 6 protestors. Joe repeatedly smeared those patriots as “The Mob.”


A slurring and mumbling Biden said a ‘violent mob of insurrectionists’ attacked the sacred halls of the Capitol. Biden claimed to be part of “We The People” and part of ‘our democracy’ who protected the Capitol, while impugning the MAGA minded were traitors.

It’s just the opposite. The protestors were not armed. They were guided in by Pelosi’s FBI agents. Remember Ray Epps? Remember the loud megaphone man atop a scaffold? FBI plants. Entrance doors were opened. No police were attacked. None of them died on the scene even if Joe blatantly LIES about it and makes up false narratives. One Trump-supporting protestor, Ashli Babbit was murdered, however.

They are legit stupid, this is basically cannon fodder for a primary opponent to use in an ad campaign. Oh, well, can wait for them to get primared next season, especailly since McCarthy promised not to use the PAC fund to interfere in elections like theirs, so no money for them.

Most of the people that supported the 'Freedom Caucus' are so desperate for the constant government oppression to stop that they would simply be happy with a complete shutdown. Their reps could just spend 8+ hours a day filibustering about Jewish Moon Lasers, accomplishing nothing except stonewalling the House from doing anything for two years and get re-elected in a landslide. When the ask is literally "Do anything, even nothing, except participate in helping fuck my life harder!" then its equally parts pathetic and disgusting when your rep fails to meet that standard.

A dog trained to hit the 'No' button would be a better representative.
