Rosendale picked Biggs. Audible groans can be heard.

I'm not doing the math, but it's likely all Gaetz now.
I think he wants it to be this way. If he goes with McCarthy after all that talk about "never voting McCarthy" I imagine quite a few people won't like him anymore to say the least. Honestly either way on an objective level props to him to bringing it down to the wire in such a dramatic and anticipation-filled fashion if that is what actually happens.

The 20 can still oppose every bill and stop passage until the rules are changed if the RINOs go through with this, that’s their fallback. And they can weather it with pure justification because McCarthy sold them out.

McCarthy would be a fool to let the RINOs sabotage this and needs to lean harder on them than he has on the 20 because they will be easy primary fodder and he would remove their funding out of spite to making him such a weak speaker. This Tony Gonzalez is pretty much done if he still votes no on the rules, his district is in the Austin/San Antonio area but he can be easily replaced by a big booty GOP Latina who falls more in line.

Not sure how accurate this is:

Fuck Boebert and Gaetz.
My scorching hot take is that the major donors of the Freedom Cuckus told them to know their place and fall in line. That they made their point to have McCarthy look like an idiot but they need to get back to business to pass more bullshit for Ukraine. So it’s either fall in line or get primary’d in the next election. So most are going to fall in line because most of them have never had an adult career type of job in the private sector. Government work is all they truly know.

The funny part is that McCarthy is going to fuck them over every chance he can get. So falling in line does absolutely nothing for them because fuckin’ lol at thinking a snake like McCarthy would ever keep his word.

I'm unaware of how this vote works. Does this lower the total needed for majority?
It's a vote that is neither nay or yay for something, from what I gather it effectively serves as an absention that lowers the overall majority needed for an issue. Since Gaetz and Boebert said present instead of voting for someone that isn't McCarthy that would basically mean they essentially pushed him to the finish line and abandoned the ones who stuck to their guns.

In this case it seems the ones who were more subtle about their disdain for McCarthy were the real holdouts meanwhile Boebert and Gaetz just blew smoke.
I figured that the present vote was always a possibility. It technically absolves him of not voting Mckarthy. Personally I think it will not go down well for him come an election.

Other news (a ray of sunlight before the clouds close in):
And applying that definition to a semi-automatic rifle equipped with a non-mechanical bump stock, we conclude that such a weapon is not a machinegun for purposes of the Gun Control Act and National Firearms Act. [...]The Final Rule promulgated by the ATF violates the APA. We therefore REVERSE the judgment of the district court and REMAND with instructions to enter judgment for Cargill.
5th Circuit (Texas) told ATF to eat shit and go pound sand on bumpstocks. Up to SCOTUS it goes.
