Liz Fong-Jones / Elliot William Fong / @lizthegrey - 'Consent accident' enjoyer, ex-Google employee, nepotistic sex pest, Robert Z'Dar look-alike who wants authority over the Internet

You are correct. I lost track of the cast of characters. Deleted. Thanks.
Please repost the screenshot though, I think that got nuked when you deleted the post.

Krebs is a name that's been known in tech for years and him reposting that insane shit is eyebrow raising regardless of whether your initial read of why was off base.

BTW if you get something wrong there's no shame in just editing a strike-through for the incorrect part, we all make mistakes and especially interpretation mis-reads aren't a big deal.

It seems likely Krebs isn't a fan of the Farms.

From the "Matthew Prince Lied" thread.
This tweet was the only time I could find Krebs specifically mentioning the forum:

Given how he frames Epik within the tweet and his past successful attempts at deplatforming 8kun (shown at the link you posted), it's clear he isn't just posting this as a neutral third party. Not quite evidence that Krebs wants Josh dead, per se, but hey, maybe he's been talking shit behind the scenes?

He's been pozloaded by faggots like Liz No Dong Jones for a while now, he's retweeting pro tranny/LGBT shit all the time nowdays.
Krebs and The Register both lost me as a reader when they started posting political shit during Trump's presidency.

I go to these sites to learn about tech or security issues, not repost globohomo.

The register was on the wall after Lester died and Dabsy was booted the first time. They're thoroughly Americanised, now.

I don't know if anyone mentioned it yet, but can he PLEASE get rid of this horrendous lipstick and get another colour. *sigh*
But it brings out the yellow of his teeth...

He better fucking not. I have dibs on that giant thing. When he passes away I want his skull. It's so big you can wear it like a helmet.
Get in line. That thing will make a perfect ashtray.

They all have such horrible takes. Corey Quinn can be seen in the wild supporting this insanity as well (perhaps not LFJ’s personal crusade directly, but he’s definitely an ally). I’ve stopped following and paying attention to every single one of them completely.

Politics and advocacy aside, after he essentially helped a hacker extort Ubiquiti by not digging deeply enough at his source, you should always look for a second, unconnected source or research for anything he reports. Brian's word is just not good enough to stand alone anymore.

Sounds like Krebs has a bit of a history eh? Is there enough for a thread on him?

Don't think so. There might be a story in how and why he fucked up the Ubiquiti story, and a story in how otherwise sane, trusted, and intelligent people in tech and security get sucked into the Twitter social justice vortex, but probably nothing much on Krebs specifically being a cow.

As near as I can tell, it goes likes this: Ubiqiti got breached. Krebs is contacted by the hacker and writes articles/breaks news on it based on this person's information, seemingly without figuring out his source was the responsible party. Information about the incident was inaccurate because the hacker was shaking down Ubiquiti. Krebs kept insisting his articles were right even after knowing that was not the case. Ubiquiti sues Krebs, because while they fucked up, Krebs did a defamation.

I'd have to go dig up reporting around it and try to find archives of his original reporting to have a clearer picture of what happened. Chances are he just jumped the gun for reasons we may never know and burnt his reputation to the ground.

Moral of the story comes down to healthy skepticism of articles based on the word of a single source of dubious provenance without independent verification. And, don't be that journalist that gets burnt.
