Watching lain rn. Can't remember who said it was complete shit and boring in response to some troon that applaud it.

But it sure got me curious. Almost done no spoilers
Too late:

Now that the year is over I can say Bocchi was the best banger of the season, and now I'll go and read the manga.

that's null and he lies relentlessly about his anime habits so don't take it too seriously

I have no opinion because it's impossible for me to watch Lain. I've tried multiple times since high school and without fail every time my house gets hit by a meteorite or something after an episode or two

>Reading Witch Hat Atlier
>Brim hats basically stop being villains after like chapter 30
>Pointy hat nerds stop the advance of technology and are Globohomo faggots

I like it so far. Art is great and story entertains me enough that I'm not bothered by the fact that the series is very much for Japanese Women who liked Harry Potter.

I think Null realizes that weebs are basically next to furries on communities filled with unlikeable assholes and is a crutch used by anti-social retards to replace a personality. Any community that will welcome anybody is not one that I want to profess being a a member of and "nerd" communities, such as furries and weebs, fester really retarded attitudes. I don't think there is a single anime e-Celeb I watched and enjoyed besides Demolition D+ and he was more of a weird Florida man who hated most other reviewers and had a breakdown about making a living based on reviewing bullshit.

I think that's everything when you're like a dumb teenager. So hanging onto that is a kind of arrested development in its own right.
When you grow up you're meant to become a complete social pariah outcast like me who's way too cool to even consider a "community" associating with you

That's what I'm dreading, there gonna add some of the stupid bits of Maximum without the fun. I kinda think they redesigned wolfwood to match his actual age in maximum (iirc he's supposed to be 16-17 in the series) so I 'm might bet on Livio/Razlo showing up and bits of the Eye of Michael subplot
You are correct, Livio/Razlo is def gonna make an appearance if we go by the full trailer

I talk anime with my friends, but family is where I draw the line unless they talk about it first. Like I'll talk a little bit about Gibli with my sister, since she grew up with the classic 90's movies, or my brother, he collects the Gundam gunpla kits, so I'll talk to him about that, otherwise I won't bring it up. I think it's important to separate your anime life from your normal life, something that the Weaboo's we saw from Filthy Frank don't get.

I’m not here to guilt trip or shame Null for liking or disliking anime. If anything, it’s funny to see his disdain for weebs veers on the line of trolling and being 100% serious. It reminds me of Andy Kaufman in a way.

Still, I actually thought that on the fediverse he said that he liked Lain, while also saying that he liked the anime movie Redline at one point.

Lots of Spirit based shows this season, it's like Jujutsu Kaisen had an effect two years later. Still can't find anything good except second season of Nagatoro (which is pretty adorable by now, than cringe/bully humour).

Oh, dude, I watched the 1st episode of POS. The neon colors, the bad writing, and the art style look like a PS3 game. I know there will be retards who'll eat this shit up because "Durrr..Dis made by studio Orange! Dey be gewd" but holy crap this is just terrible.
That's a shame cause Land of the Lustrous is animated so well.

There's actually one movie I'm kind of curious about the season called Blue Giant but I'm kind of expecting it won't get subbed.
All I know about it is its a seinen manga about jazz that's been running for about a decade and music promotions for the series have been showing up in my feed for years
It's been on my plan to read list for awhile now but I've never seen any real talk about it to either convince me to finally read it or skip it, plus I kinda find music manga really have to have something else going for it to make up for, well the lack of music.
Second trailer also looked like it had some pretty janky CGI for the performances which has kind of lessened my interest a bit, but everything else (mainly the OST) seems interesting enough.

I've read a bit of the manga following the announcement of the movie and it's pretty good. I should continue reading it soon before the BD of the movie drops and it gets subbed.

Blue Giant is an underrated manga about jazz and when I read it, I had to take a couple of days off from reading it since it started to get a bit too real for me. Plus, I also play the tenor saxophone, too. Either way, the manga was like the Japanese version of Whiplash, but without J.K. Simmons yelling at you for rushing or dragging your instrument.

Anyway, I’m also announcing that after taking a couple of days off from doing personal things, I’m actually excited and intrigued to rewatch Steins;Gate from the beginning since I never finished watching it. Not only do I get to catch up with what I missed, I’m also wanting to watch it for girl related:

Much like Code Geass, wish me luck guys. It’s going to be a long road ahead! 😀

If you want to get the most out of it I'd recommend watching it up through episode 22. Then find 23β, I think it's just on youtube, at least it was last I checked. Don't watch through the credits as the post credits have a huge spoiler. That leads into S;G0, which is kind of an interquel stitched in between the true ending and the ending that the true ending is an epilogue to. Then go back and watch regular 23 and finish it out from there

Normally I'd recommend just taking things piecemeal and finishing one before starting another but S;G has one of the most satisfying endings of all time while 0 just doesn't have an ending (the 0 is stylized as a mobius strip) and the creators thought enough of the interplay between them to release an OVA that seamlessly leads into them. If you have the time/patience I'd recommend playing 0 (and S;G. They took me about 30 hours each) as well if you have the time/patience, as the 0 anime is mostly a new path rather than an attempted adaptation. All 6 of the paths in 0 are pretty wildly different, it's not like S;G where the different endings are just Okabe stopping or getting stuck at different points along the timeline

Great series whether you're watching it or reading it though, definitely worth working your way through either/both versions. I read it first and still found the anime to be quite enjoyable, just missing a few scenes (and all of the alternate endings of course) and the scenes it did have were abridged, as you might suspect would happen when adapting 30 hours of text into 12 hours of anime. 0 is especially worth watching since it's an expansion to the VN rather than an adaptation, as mentioned

The movie is fine but skippable, it doesn't really work with the established canon of S;G so if you watch it just watch it for the characters mostly. It might work with the greater canon of Science Adventure as a whole but I haven't read a whole lot of it, just the S;G games (S;G, S;G 0, S;G My Darling's Embrace, and S;G Linear Bounded Phenogram) and Chaos;Child. Steins;Gate was described as exploring the vertical layers of reality by one of the writers while he compared Anonymous;Code to the horizontal layers, so Anonymous;Code might do something to make the movie work

I think Null genuinely does enjoy some anime movies is in spare time, he'd just never admit to it because It'd be the end of him after all the vitriol he's expressed. Tonnes of non weebs enjoy the odd anime film, as long as your not obnoxious about it I've got no reason to judge.

there's nothing wrong with talking about anime (or anything), just don't be a sperg about it (and don't powerlevel too hard).
I hardly watch western shit anymore, so every time it comes up and I say I don't, the next question inevitably is "what else you're watching then?".

every community has it league of loud retards, that's just a statistical inevitability. "weebshit" being as big and old as it is probably has more than most, but doesn't mean everyone is.

It becomes pretty annoying after you read the original content, just how much gets cut for the adaptions.

Even something like Mushoku Tensei, they refused to ever show a map because that would mean they'd have to go out of their way to show the explanation on why it looks like that and why the main characters took such a long route.
agreed, but as you said that's only if you're already familiar with the source. most adaptions cut or change stuff, that's just how it is when formats change. can't even call it good or bad, since there's always the argument "if it still works without it, how necessary was it in the first place?" vs "I enjoyed it as is, no need of changes", really depends on the adaption in question (for example the kaguya anime apparently cut some parts afaik, but those were not really necessary since the story worked fine without it).

and I think there were one or two "author goes full retard" cases where stuff changed for the better.

I just watched the first episode of Vinland Saga season 2. Great episode and Im glad its not a batch release. Its kind of cool how Robert Eggers "The Northman" is coming out in Japan this month and both Vinland Saga and the film did a collab to promote each other.
