A desire to drag everyone down to their level. If they can't be at the top of the heap, then they want everyone else to be on the bottom along with them.

Of course they also believe that when the revolution comes the government will recognise their genius and pay them to sit around being artists or philosophers, when in reality they'd be the first against the wall as they have nothing to offer the state.

They think it will be like Patreon but with tax dollars paying for them to pursue their hobby. They have no idea at all about the uniquely miserable lives "trophies" like artists and athletes actually lived under Communist regimes.

True artists are always enemies of the state. Communism, though, actually treats them like the enemies they are.
