I hate, hate, hate, Apple's reliance on MDM/APNS as The One True Way to manage Apple products. Setting aside the the linguistic silliness of using "Mobile Device Management" to administer a 70lb Mac Pro desktop, I can at least appreciate what they're trying to do - make the management of macOS and iOS devices as uniform as possible, since that's what they're trying to do with the OSes, anyway. Ok, fine.
What pisses me off is that I don't have a good way to troubleshoot and audit what's actually happening. If I build a Configuration Profile and attempt to deploy it to a bunch of computers, I can see if it succeeded or failed, but I get 0 feedback on to *why* it failed. I also have no way of distinguishing unacknowledged commands that are because "this machine is not communicating with anything" versus "this machine is refusing the acknowledge commands from my MDM server, probably because of some crummy certificate issue."
