On the topic of crazy and awful subreddits: My personal pick for worst subreddit is r/UnpopularOpinions which has the most hypocritical and schizophrenic community I have ever seen.

First of all, getting your submission to actually stay up on that sub is a herculean task because the mods pick and choose shit at random to delete. I remember a time when I wanted to post an opinion, checked the board search to make sure it wouldn't be a duplicate and then was banned from the entire site for 3 days because "It was similar to another post." I was never told what post it was and I damn sure couldn't find it. Another time, I posted a dumb op that randomly blew up. Got a ton of replies and awards for some reason. Deleted after 2 days for being "too common." To this day, I have no idea why the mods decided to get rid of a thread that not only on-topic but was bringing a lot of karma to the sub.

The community itself is also terrible because, in typical reddit fashion, actual unpopular opinions get downvoted and dogpiled by angry weirdos while repeating shit everyone already agrees on is treated as stunning and brave.

As an experiment you should post on there something like, ‘I think pedophiles are victims and should be treated with dignity’. I guarantee you it won’t get removed

The covid lunatics are very ripe for their own thread.

Redditor start to doubt if they can go on as a pathological germphobe for the rest of their life but is quickly put back into place by the rest of the crab bucket cult:

This is the life style they are expecting to live the rest of their lives in:

Even if Covid had a 100% mortality rate I'd choose the gamble over the hellish non-life these people live.

And it's all for nothing:

Everyone always moans about Reddit's terrible mods. But does anyone have a solution? Paid moderators? Reddit has too many fucking subreddits and an enormous userbase that cover almost every subjects in existence.
Yeah, each subreddit has a list of tagged in rules with various penalties for breaking. Moderators are required to tell exactly what the issue is with a short description why and a prescriptive ban time. Users in good standing appeal these bans which go to the admins if there is an issue.
All internal moderation decisions, rationale, amount reported, who reported (user or mod) with a three strike rule for permanent ban from the sub.

If a mod powertrips and you see it that report goes to an admin. Admins can then deal out punishment to the mods as necessary.

This deserves it's own thread at this point, because this shit is absolutely hilarious. I just imagine Redditors' walking around in full hazmat gear and an automatic nose spray and anti-biotic hand wash dispenser strapped to their medical belt. The demonic comparison is genius because that's exactly what these people are involved in, just of a quasi-religious Science™ nature.

seeing these people talk about covid mask brand names and model performance like gamers talk about GPUs for their custom built computers is really funny

The one thing I've never understood about these covid loons, if you're so terrified of the disease that you need to take extreme measures to avoid it why are you traveling in the first place? It's like, sure bubonic mega aids is floating around, but I REFUSE to compromise any of my luxuries.

Bug people and redditors has an ability to consooomify anything.

If pottery suddenly becomes a trend tomorrow, they’ll write posts about brands/types of clay, glaze and special brands of water to use.

If cutting off a leg becomes a trend, they’ll post about:

“I’m having an above the knee/ATK amputation tomorrow with doctor Goldstein, using a Titanex 3K bonesaw and cauterized nerve-removal procedure. Can anyone recommend a good crutch for getting around post surgery? I’m hoping to eventually get both legs amputated and use a Scootex electric wheelchair!”

These people realize that the airplane has HEPA-grade air filters and the entire cabin's air system is circulated through those filters every 2 minutes, right? The chances of them getting Covid from a flight are pretty low, unless they have an infected person sitting near then and constantly sneezing in their general direction.

Plus, Covid is pretty mild now when compared to the original strain, even if it is more infectious.

Try /r/TrueUnpopularOpinion. They're a splinter of people who hated the over-moderation of the original subreddit. I don't really see a lot of posts removed.

I would vote /r/AmITheAsshole for the sub with the most amount of capricious and feckless people. Had a minor disagreement with a family member? Go no contact and cut them off forever! Your parents had you babysit your younger sibling for a night because of an emergency? Say no! It's not your circus, not your monkeys!

What's funny is that you have OPs that flock to the comment section as soon as the Asshole judgements start pouring in and spout off bullshit in the comments to try to save face and get that sweet, sweet karma. Inconsistencies in the OP are excused with "I don't live in America" or "English is not my native language". AITA is basically like a creative writing sub at this point where people shitpost or greatly exaggerate details in the OPs to get rageclicks and upvotes, but the commenters actually are serious and stand behind their convictions in that you don't owe anyone anything ever, and other similar mantras. /r/AmITheAngel absolutely take the piss out of them and I love that subreddit for that.
