Anime/Manga - Discuss Japanese cartoons and comics here; NO CULTURE WAR DOOMPOSTING!

I thought Crunchy would stick to the "girly" translation rather than being generalize about change, since how this show is supposed to be so trans. Or is it because this show is so lolicon unapologetic that they rather be distant instead.

Considering last season, they made mistake on Chainsawman translation and fixed it later on.

Shit... translations have been fuckywucky for some time. Reminds me of the bad early SxF subs where they have Anya swearing. Don't even get me started on Funi dub fiasco shit.

I don't think there really is a way to destroy anime's piracy culture. Its just expected and normal. There is no competent central body that can do something like with what Valve did with gaming's culture.
Yeah, Anime fans have been bootlegging since the 90s. Like buying VHS where they tell you to turn on CC to get subtitles. It was here before it went official (I actually knkw a guy who works as a localized that started doing bootleg anime he would sell). It's too built into the culture
I think most people would move from pirating anime to paying for it if there was a genuine benefit for doing so. The only issue is that these companies are incompetent as shit and that there will never be something that paying for anime will ever have over just pirating it. If you want to support creators, there are a million and one ways to do it that don't require you to pay for a CR sub. If you want to watch anime, there are a million and one ways to do so. The only people who willingly pay for CR or any other anime service are people who want to "support the industry" but are too lazy to find any other alternative or people who are just genuinely dumb.

Piracy is also just engrained into western anime culture. If it weren't for dedicated fansubbers and whatnot, anime wouldn't become nearly as popular. It's kind of hard to separate the two.
Yeah. I used to have a CR subscription thinking they would actually help out the industry but instead they just use to to make their cheap Tumblr Cartoons. That's not what people paid for. As other have said, if you like a show or manga then buy the merchandise. I bought the Boochi CD and that's the first CD I've bought since the Offspring releases their 2012 album.
Possibly. The Japanese actually arrest people over there for piracy, and it definitely is impacting the bottom line. If they want to fight it they have to be competitive, and no doubt the companies are talking to eachother.
That's because there is little crime going there besides dealing with the Yakuza, who mostly just kill each other and people who owe them money. Like I know one of the One Piece Scanners got caught and did some hard time
So it's just Crunchyroll being run by a bunch of fuck-ups as usual. Amazing.
They rented out a San Francisco office with a fountain for nonreason. The rent there is expensive. That's money better used in Los Angeles where it does make sense to have an office

So far, enjoying Tomo-chan. Enjoyed hearing the VA for Carol and its the same woman that Voiced the weeb from Boochi. She's an American and voices both the JP and EN role, which I'm not sure if it's a first (excluding things like Pikachu).

I enjoy food themed isekai stories for the relaxing vibes, such as Isekai Shokudou, but I suppose that's kind of a niche genre you won't necessarily enjoy unless you're actively looking for comfy food anime. I just wish Faraway paladin had better production values cause I feel like it could've been a gem but the lackluster animation is holding it back. I enjoyed the setup of the MC growing up in a deserted wasteland raised by undead and the way it eventually tied in to his powers.

Mari Iijima voiced her character in both the original Macross and in the English dub done like 20 years ago. Other than that, I think that's it.

Just read the manga, it's very good although the backgrounds and architecture early on are somewhat weak.

I'm curious, give me an example of a gem (preferably one with actual plot and tolerable MC)
I'll admit to somewhat liking a newer one recently called The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic (no its not that healer series), won't say its amazing but its good enough.
TLDR: its another isekai comedy where the MC gets summoned by accident because he was next to the real heroes when they where, but it does a few things differently:
There's actually no initial arc where the MC is treated like shit because he's not the hero and or has shitty powers only to prove them wrong (looking at you shield hero and arifureta)
The way he becomes strong is dumb but in a funny way, they just train him to the point of exhaustion everyday and heal him afterwards so he just becomes physically stronger then any normal human
the actual heroes aren't treated like shit or are incompetent jackasses, which is somewhat common for isekai series where the MC isn't the "hero" now that I think about it.

The actual plot of the series is the MC being conscripted to a rescue squad, where they'll look for injured soldiers on a battlefield, carry them back to camp (while during an active battle mind you) and heal them. I've heard it becomes more of a battle shonen in later arcs, less doing what I just described more fantasy adventures so might go down hill eventually.
Also there was an anime adaption announced recently so might air in a year or two.

Came across another seinen space gem called Moonlight Mile. It's another mid 2000s era anime about space exploration kinda like Planetes, but takes place in a universe when it's just taking off and the issue of space debris isn't a problem. Surprisingly the manga is still in the works after a long hiatus from the author.

It really blows my mind that Yofukashi no Uta (Call of the Night) hasn't been renewed for a second season anime adaptation already, I really figured it would have not only been renewed but possibly snapped up by a bigger streaming service than HiDive by now. I enjoyed a lot about it though - the one fatal flaw I've found is the age of the main protag but it does a better job of handling degen shit than similar animes. The art is fucking incredible though and Nazuna makes for a nice twist on the vampire theme.

I finally gave up, got drunk and gave Konosuba a shot. Other than the nonstop lolibaiting degeneracy it was a very fun watch, so when I saw discussion that S3 might finally make an appearance that was cool, I just hope they don't fuck with the VA casting. It's one of the things that annoys me about anime is sometimes just due to the length of time in between seasons, VAs drop off for various reasons. Hell, the VA who voiced Bulma in Dragonball for decades actually died in between seasons a few years back.

SpyxFamily remains my top anime of the year though. I'm fairly certain that if any anime girl has ever been worthy of being called a waifu it is Yor, bitch was straight up created in a lab to be great. But the plot is just so damn fun, it almost feels like watching a Saturday morning cartoon but for adults. Loid might be one of my favorite male protags in anime because instead of being a dipshit who inexplicably has a harem he is just a competent dude trying to do a job but constantly feeling like he's going to die of anxiety because he's surrounded by what he perceives as incompetence - meanwhile his adopted daughter is a telepathic menace and his pretend wife could probably even kill him.

People keep recommending I watch Farming Life in Another World but Farming Simulator w/ Anime Tiddies doesn't sound like a recipe for a long running plot based series.

I am really sick of tards claiming Hiroyuki Sawano is some kind of mastermind composer. All of his tracks are the anime equivalent to "my heart will go on" from titanic and don't sound that much different than any other anime.

The only difference I found is that there was far less contextually tone deaf usage of his music in the anime it was used in. Which wasn't even up to him. Nothing like generic J-pop blaring during a funeral scene or some other autistic combination of tone deafness over the last decade of anime.

I'll admit I wasn't on /a/ back in the early to mid 10s, but does anyone know who the fuck is Diaz?
I assumed he was some old lolcow tripfag related to the board, but he must be a relatively harmless one since there is no mention on the forms, ED, or anywhere outside of 4chan. so is he just an bogyman oldfags on /a/ will blame for [enter thing here] like this?

Tbf, it's kind of intentional that he's at the point of almost being an adult but isn't and has no idea what he's doing.

It's based on a song that's about grooming, after all. Just check out some of lyrics..

Sticking on the Tomo chan point, it's everything I remember of the manga. The comedy bangs just as hard, and I enjoy Tomo's VA alot.

I won't suck his dick too hard but he makes pretty epic music to do cool shit to and it's hard to imagine everyone's favorite Taiwanese puppet show Thunderbolt Fantasy's battle scenes going as hard as they did with a different composer.

Only knew him from aldnoah and re;creators.

It's based in Japan, I wish they would have realized there are much easier ways to portray a Japanese male as socially and romantically inept without dipping into shota-lite

Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash

One of the best/most underrated series I seen. A little bit of a strech as a 'isekai' since its about a group of people and while they def came from our time/universe none of the people remember our world (through some memories/video game terms leak in). A couple of things separate it from the pack

1. This is not about the A team. Not even really about the B team. Its about the team of C-listers the others didn't want trying to survive in a fanasty world.
2. Every action and battle has weight to it instead of just swing swords around and jumping like manics. The first episode is just a battle against one goblin and its completely intense and suspenseful.
3. The group is fighting real, live breathing creatures that want to live and survive just as much as they do. Nothing they fight feels a video game NPCs that disappear when they die.
4. Stuff happens and the show lets the characters slow down, breath and come to terms with the shit they are dealing with.
