The Nostalgiatards of Tumblr - "CHILDHOOD RUINED!!!!!" Manchildren and other annoying spergs

I love how no one offended by animated content ever realizes that the whole season has likely been completed long before it started airing and are probably working on getting the next season contract by episode 5.

Howl all you want, kids. No one's going to super-impose faceless titlady into the rest of the season.

If Tumblrinas were to sperg about how shit and samey all CN shows look right now, they'd be forced to criticize the holy Steven Universe, and we know they can't do that.
(sorry to reply somewhat late to this)

i think a primary reason tumblr gives SU a pass on the art is because it (the art) shows "diverse body representation" (read: a lot of chubby/fat characters plus visible leg hair on a girl) which is ~obviously enough to make up for a case of uninspired sameface

well, that and the fact i've run into a few animation fans among the older tumblrites who cream themselves over the 'off model' characters, plus naturally everyone's consumed by feels for their masterwork of visibility or whatever people say about SU now

They give a pass to Steven Universe because it panders to their political agendas. If SU had female characters that were more tall/skinny/blonde/white and with more girlier hobbies, the show would be condemned to hell and back.

...Scooby Doo came back with continuing plot and actual character development about a year or two before the newest reboot and no one watched it. Can they really complain?
There's been a billion Scooby Doo remakes, with at least two in the past seven years. It's like Mario, where although it provides quality nostalgia for some, there's also a version for every generation, and shitty ones can be forgiven or ignored in favor of the better ones. PowerPuff Girls is specific to one generation.

IMO if all the girls were conventionally attractive/feminine, even if the show was condemned by the people who like it now, it'd still attract a decently sized audience - probably disillusioned bronies looking for another girly show to co-opt

in either case the fanbase remains cancerous, but as we know, that's sort of inevitable when adults sperg about shows made for children

How about '90s nostalgia in general? Especially from people who are too young to remember anything relevant, and most of their nostalgia comes from re-runs in the '00s. I actually got told "you're just jealous of us '90s babies, you'll never be cool like us!" by some kid born in 1998. I was born in the '80s and I actually grew up in the '90s.

They also are nostalgic over like the lamest 90's music.

Hell, a lot of what younger people call 90s nostalgia at this point was originally made in the early-mid 2000s, not even just re-ran/remembered.

If I took a shot every time some 18 year old made fun of a younger teen for not watching That's So Raven-era Disney Channel the first go around because "only 90s kids remember", I'd have died of liver poisoning months ago

I dislike these kinds of people. Don't like, don't watch. The only one I can legitimately agree on was the one episode of the PPG reboot being somewhat transphobic, mainly because the animators basically did the exact opposite of what the writer wanted and made the episode, legitimately, about transgender problems. (As stated by the creators themselves) It did not aid the fact there were, legitimate, references and some shitty comparisons.

Though, that was made to grab older people. I don't know their target anymore...Either way, it's all bad. Why they don't avoid it is on them.

Colin Trevorrow said:
They use this term, “Don’t ruin my childhood.” I disagree with it, because you shouldn’t give anyone the power to ruin your childhood. That belongs to you and it’s special. Take ownership over your childhood back and don’t give that to me. All we can hope to do is supplement your love for your childhood with something that can return you to it, for a moment.
