Well, Jesus may be a bit more forgiving than the Mosaic Code, which generally applied to a specific time and place (hence the answer to the euphoric question of why can Christians eat lobster now), but I think even Jesus would take a much dimmer view of deliberately defiling the temple God gave you.

Also one view of that passage is it actually was specifically directed at weird cults of the time which castrated themselves and wouldn't punish an accident or deliberate harm by another.
