Evidently the SFWA was once a “trade organization” that shifted to a 501(c)(3) at some point in the recent past. A trade organization exists to exclusively serve the needs of its members where a charity can’t “discriminate” [within, as is stated, the science fiction genre or authors of works that are sci-fi “adjacent”]. Fuckkk awwfffff. It's a fake charity that broke the law and forced a humble forum owner to have to go almost $50,000 into the hole to defend and subsequently try to recover damages. In addition, Patrick almost certainly hasn't reported their financial assistance as income as he is required by law to do - also illegal. Not to mention Null himself had to hire an attorney and was never reimbursed. This all without the knowledge or consent of the people who donate money to them.
