Can someone give me a short version on this? From what I understand Scotland passed like a super tranny law and Angland was like "yeah we fuck trannies but not like that. That's a little too much. Not recognizing your shit" and for once someone in west Europe is actually fighting to be LESS of a Faggot?
Scotland: You can change your legal sex after three months of wearing a skirt, no questions asked, and also you can do it age 16. Scotland über alles, och aye the noo!
The Government: You're allowed to change things that only impact Scotland but Hollyrood, your special mini Scottish government, isn't allowed to change the law for the whole UK, that has to go through us. You're fucking up the Equality Act 2010
Troons: Hmmmm ackshully the Equality Act 2010 doesn't legislate on gender recognition certificates, it only says that people with one are legally female. Single sex spaces here I come!
Scotland: We agree with the troons and also we're being violently oppressed by the English even though the union of the crowns was the result of a Scottish King, the Highland Clearances were Scottish-on-Scottish violence and a shit tonne of the British Empire's colonialists were Scottish. But please confuse us with Ireland because we have similar sounding accents and languages. Bravehart was a documentary.
The Equality Act 2010: Hi everyone, I know nobody has read me, but basically while I essentially say your sex is whatever it says on your birth certificate and therefore a trans person with a legally changed birth certificate is the sex of that single sex space, my statutory guidance nobody read does explicitly acknowledge that trans women aren't real women and can be excluded from situations where sex is relevant. Here's my exemption examples you can read on the government legislative page.
A counsellor working with victims of rape might have to be a woman and not a transsexual person, even if she has a Gender Recognition Certificate, in order to avoid causing them further distress.
A group counselling session is provided for female victims of sexual assault. The organisers do not allow transsexual people to attend as they judge that the clients who attend the group session are unlikely to do so if a male-to-female transsexual person was also there. This would be lawful.
anyway nobody noticed this but the ensuing constitutional crisis this is going to cause will probably make everyone aware, and single sex spaces will probably be able to say "we're female only and that also specifically excludes men with a bit of paper that says they're female" because now people are paying attention.
It's Hollyrood not Stormont, pls no bully </3
