Future of the House

only thing she owns is a pile of junk
She owns a very old pile of junk, one which could contain various items that appreciated in value from being so old. Bob had an extensive record collection that afaik Chris never sold, and of the 100 or so that survived there's probably a few that have some value. Chris would have a bunch of old toys that became collectors items although they wouldn't be worth jack considering the state they'd be in. In that same vain there might be more old pokemon and Yugioh cards in binders (are old Yugioh cards worth anything idk much about its economy). Of course anything of value will immediately be used to pay debts, so it's not like Chris or Cole are getting any inheritance.

Yes. I was wondering what money you are talking about, because Barb is upside down on the house, has several collection agents after her, and the only thing she owns is a pile of junk. Does she have money I don't know about?
I doubt she has money saved away.

There are two groups of thought regarding the house: people who think the house will go to the bank; the other group thinks that there's a chance that money can be made. Most who think the latter seems to believe there's a loophole for Cole getting something out of 14 BLC.

I honestly would be shocked if Cole gave a shit about anything in that house, or about the house itself. Especially if it meant any chance that he'd have to involve himself with his half brother again.

I know this would generally belong in the "What happens when Barb dies" thread, but would Cole actually make the trip at her funeral? I mean as bad as Barb is, after having her son molest her and her getting into a car wreck, Cole is the only family she has, aside from her sister, who already has issues with Barb as is. Chris has pointed out where he lives, so it shouldn't be a problem for Cole to go over there. But if he wasn't there for Barb in her worst moment, I don't doubt he'd even go to his mom's final moments. Barb really did a number on Cole for him to cut off any contact with her.

More on topic with this thread: if Barb didn't owe money, and Chris ended up doing the same thing, with all this talk about the deferral, I'd imagine Chris 'renting' the house to someone to watch over 14 BLC, but as usual, gets tricked into giving the house away because of 'misunderstandings'.

And that they'd be covered in tard cum.

Cole is about as cold-hearted and sociopathic as Chris but just somewhat higher functioning. I doubt he would feel a thing.

Most of the shit she hoards is likely not worth shit as shown in the past. Like the "very valuable painting" that was a reproduction. Or the random shit Chris has sold on eBay. Record collections can be worth money, but they generally have to be rare and in good condition and I doubt Chris or Barb has kept them from moisture and other bad stuff, especially given the fire.

From what I can find Chris and Barb stored them in the garden shed/ dreaming center, which is both good and bad for their survival. On one hand they're not in the house, on the other that means they're being kept in a structure with no protection from the elements other than a roof and the record sleeves. Really we'd need to know how exactly they're stored, but there could be one or two still in sellable condition.

You must not watch the TV show Hoarders. Everything in that house is contaminated by dog crap and cat pee, perhaps even rat poop now that the pets are gone. Good luck finding anyone willing to pay a penny for that junk. The only way to deal with the hoard is to get a cleaning crew in to haul it all to the dump.

Bob collected "easy listening" jazz and old school "swing". He didn't have any rare Coltrane or Monk. George Shearing and Ray Anthony records go for a quarter apiece at the Goodwill... You can't even give away ones that smell like urine. If the records are stored in the shed, the covers have become covered in black mold too.

Barb's debt is public record. She has no equity in the house to pass along to anyone. The house is clearly upside down financially. Sifting stinky stuff you could sell for a few bucks on ebay out of the hoard would be more work than it would be worth.

I'm sure the family contacted Cole after Barb had the car accident. They would have let him know about her condition and would have given him a rough idea of her financial situation to see if he could help. I have no doubt what Cole's response to them was.

In the end the house could face demolition due to it's state and the land being more valuable than the building's.

Guess we could all go and have a barbecue on that day if it comes.

The only possible way we would see a Drachenlord level tardfest descend upon 14BC would be if the house ended up abandoned for an extended period of time somehow. If that happened people would 100% be going in there to take photos and mess around and try to recover Christorical artifacts. But really, as long as the house has active residents, I just do not see that happening. Even most weens understand there's just too much liability there.

What was the name of the infected one eyed kitten that supposedly disappeared one day? I bet it's a mummified orange fur ball in the hoard huddled under Barb's bedding or buried under a pile of lego.

Sorbet I think. Probably got dropped in the trash after it finally shed its miserable mortal coil. Chris liked to keep animals around so he could beg for money for food or vet bills it seems, you can't beg for money for your sick kitty if it's dead.

The house would need to be actively collapsing for them to consider knocking it down instead of just getting a cleaning crew. Don't get me wrong that house is by no means in a livable or sellable state, but it's not like Chris' attempts to break the fourth wall is going to take out a load bearing wall or crack the foundation.
