My guy… First of all Jazz was 21 here. Not 15 or 16.

Secondly and more importantly, we’re talking about a person who has never lived by themselves and always had mommy there to wipe their ass.

Not being able to get up on your own when you are a few months away from living by yourself and having responsibilities is kind of a big deal.

so i have not really done much looking into jazz since as far as im concerned every show on tlc is the exact same show with the same gimmick of "this person and their family are all lunatics lets watch them do insane shit and spiral downward endlessly until they die or end up being exposed for doing some type of major crime" and it would seem i am jazz falls into this same category as well.

but my curiosity got the best of me so i read through this thread and let me just say his parents are actual psychopaths. his mom is on par with those weird dance or child pageant moms who are so very obviously using their children to fulfill some deep desire they have or just simply using their children as a means to obtain success and or attention.

i do not believe for one second that jazz is trans from what ive seen the dude comes off like a regular little kid. no little kid understands what gender is and they for sure are not gonna be claiming to be the opposite sex so early in life.

i honestly feel bad for him because trans or not he is not going thru with any of this the right way and sooner or later its gonna end up being too much for him. but even then we would most likely end up getting a spin off tv show where jazzs mom goes around helping parents of trans kids or some nonsense.

Kids that young tend to "perform" the sex they are born with after they identify themselves with adults of the same sex without understanding what sex really means. Boys act like dad, girls act like mom. Not only they are able to identify some basic differences between sexes (they know mom gives food, not dad), but they identify them on themselves.

Which is not the same as saying they're experts on sex and gender like the Jennings implied about Jazz. It's more like "I dress like dad (pants, shirts), hence I am like dad" or "I go to the bathroom dad goes, so I'm like dad" and not "If I have a vagina like mom, that will make me a woman": they aren't able to think in this type of abstraction yet. The most you'll see is a boy wearing mom's shoes and saying "look, I'm mom", but his specific mom, not that he is a woman.

Sometimes they do the opposite, but it's more due to curiosity than because there is a real identification. These are the kids who could potentially be gay, but it's not absolute. There are other factors such as absence of a certain parent. It's indeed often a phase, but a continuous behavior could indicate a future homosexuality, in certain cases, not all.

Incorrect. Jeanette has said that line many times. See the interview she and Jazz did on Buzzfeed [archive] ("I always say I'd rather have a live daughter than a dead son. I'm not sure, like Jazz said, if she would be with us if she wasn't allowed to express her true identity. Serious stuff!") or the article she wrote for 1010WINS [archive] ("For me, in the end, I chose life. I decided I’d rather have a living daughter than a dead son.")

I am almost certain she has said that line on the show as well, but I do not recall when exactly.

I'm saying that line (theory) didn't originate with her. Obviously she's convinced of it and hence has repeated it endlessly. So have the other members of the family since she, in turn, convinced them.

Deb is Jeanette's first cousin (Grandpa's brother's daughter) who is also a sex therapist specializing in transgender issues.
