I hate to give it to Corissa but this is a reasonable response. She’s hosting a small scale event. She doesn’t claim it’s for the budget minded. We know her prices are ridiculous for what attendees are getting in return (especially in the swag and food departments) but if someone wants to toss a few grand to attend a fatty pool party and eat Costco bulk junk food, it’s their cash.

She could even add a nominal “send a disadvantage fatty to camp” fee to each ticket, though I guess that’s what the “scholarship” idea is.

That dumb white lady would be the first one to bitch about a price increase for that reason, too.

I actually like Corissa's response. I think it's very measured and perfect for someone like the original commenter, who obviously would be unhappy with anything Corissa did or said but is also unwilling to get off her ass and plan an affordable alternative event. Props to Corissa for not losing her patience; I actually respect that a little bit. She did a good job of making clear that such unconstructive criticism is not wanted or helpful without resorting to "no, u!!!" tactics.

Also, since I guess I'm on a Corissa lovefest today, I'll say that even though the food and goodie bags are kind of half-assed, pulling off ANY event for this many people is a lot of work. Even just a dinner party for a few close friends takes at least a few days' effort and planning to pull off, much less a multi-overnight for guests from all over the country who only know each other via social media. Even at the ridiculous prices she's charging, there's no way she's making that much money per hour of effort that she's putting in. Few of the other deathfats would be willing to undertake such a major project.

Still fat, still would not sex, but I'll begrudgingly recognize her for at least trying here.

Certainly that was true. As it is now, they're making $11,000 split at least 2 ways, plus whatever funds they end up putting toward the camp scholarships. That might seem like a ton on paper, but an event like this takes a lot of time and work, plus their clientele are a bunch of whiny fat complainers who make every aspect of the event harder to plan.

I do think it's funny that her idea of "transparency" regarding finances is just a price list she typed up. Like, no, Corissa; normally you post such a list with proof that things cost what they say they do. I could plan a fat camp and say that everything cost $5, making you look like a boob and a liar. My saying it, though, wouldn't make it true.

There are only 12 cabins, and a good number of those are single occupancy, so there won't even be two dozen attendees for the whole weekend. This makes the $9000 food cost for three days even more insane. Even if you charitably assume that the food for the Pool Party day, for which they sell non-camping tickets, will cost $2k, that's $7k to feed around 20 people max for three days. $2300 a day. Significantly more than $100 each, per day, just on food!

Also…what the fuck is the logic here? Presuming that J’s high school friend is a not-trans female, then yeah she has every right to be bummed about having facial hair. Conversely, J should be THRILLED she has facial hair, because she is a guy. Aside from hirsute women and those few annoying chin hairs all post-pubescent women get, facial hair is a pretty sexually dimorphic trait.

Unless, J, you’re saying that women shouldn’t be ashamed of their facial hair because a lot of women have it for a lot of different reasons (including but not limited to your hormones being all fucked from excess adipose tissue) which I would agree with. But then it’s not a trans thing, it’s a “women with beards are still women” thing. Or does a woman having facial hair in fact make her a man? I've never seen a neckbeard that is literally only on the neck...if you can even call it a neck, it's more like a roll of fat where her neck should be. The fact that he made it to a year with pancreatic cancer is astounding to me. But it is indeed an inoperable tumor. There is never remission with pancreatic cancer. It's one of the deadliest cancers out there. I agree that it sounds like palliative chemo to me at this point. If he's at that stage, he should be qualified for Social Security benefits, including Medicare, and have hospice nurses come over to help him daily.

Is the GoFundMe worth it at this point? Probably not. Even palliative chemo is worthless after a point.
