Just splitting hairs but I wouldn’t think of him temporarily locking the thread as stubborn. There were serious consequences that could have accompanied the absolute shitshow the thread turned into which would jeopardize the site as a whole. The gravity of the situation was too much for some overzealous tourists.
But the gravity of Patrick’s burgeoning weight is one we all collectively can understand

This is actually what I'd be really interested to find out about the SFWA doing this. Did they really believe Patirck's case would apply to anyone else in their membership? Did they think if Rick somehow prevailed in this impossible task they'd all be able to sue people who gave them bad reviews? I have no illusions about what Pat thought, he's a complete moron, but the entire leadership of an organization bought into this? No members questioned this at all? Nobody cared about any of this as they threw money away?

I obviously don't support contacting the tax jannies but I would like to have this mystery solved somehow.
