Microsoft is fucking butthurt no one wants Windows 11 so they're stopping the sale of Windows 10 licenses this month

My current laptop is about to implode. I bought a new laptop over a month ago and was forced to install Windows 11. I tried searching how to avoid this, but found no solution.

Anyway, I have tried really hard to just suck it up and deal with it, but I absolutely hate it. I really hate how the scrollbar is so skinny, even after reading a bunch of articles about how to customize this, I still can't get it to look and act like I want it.

I'm currently still using my piece of shit laptop most of the time, but it's going to die for good soon, and then my new laptop is all I will have.

Is there a way for me to get Windows 10 on my new laptop, or am I stuck forever with this garbage?
There absolutely is a way to get Windows 10 back. You'll need a blank USB drive that's at least 16 GB, and then you'll need to download Microsoft's W10 installer creation tool and then make sure you select that specific blank USB drive to make an installer on

Forgive me, I'm a dumb ass; but would this work on a laptop that already had Windows 11 on it? Like when I bought it, it was already on it and wouldn't let me do anything to get around setting it up.

Ok, so you can still download a windows 10 iso from MS' site. You just have to trick it to think you're on linux. Well, I'm on linux but at work I'm on Windows 10. So it wouldn't take me direcly to this page.

Windows 2000 was hated and notoriously buggy?!
Everyone kinda forgets about 2000 because ME was so notoriously bad anything that looked like it got tarred by the same brush
I'm pretty sure people suggested staying with 98se or upgrading to 2000 when ME was out. That one year before XP was released.

ME isn't that bad. A lot of its badness was due to shitty hardware and drivers back in the day. Its not worth using over 98se since it removes pure dos and there's not a good way to add it back. The performance is pretty much identical to 98se. Maybe a few FPS on games here and there.

The same can be said with Vista. But add in high system requirements and MS not releasing the final required specs for Vista until late. So a lot of machines that couldn't really run it properly got slapped with a Vista Ready sticker. Its not worth going back to over 7.

It should, though it wouldn't surprise me if Microsoft prevented their own W10 installer usb tool from being run on Windows 11.

I reached my breaking point with Windows about a year ago. I was running 10. There were many many reasons why I reached my breaking point. The increasing trend of software as a service pissed me off. All I want is a fucking file that will run on my hardware and not contact some fucking server every time I open it to serve me data and check credentials. Then there was all this "Microsoft Account" shit. The fuck is a Microsoft Account? I never needed one before and I'm not making one now. All I want an OS so I can browse my files and run programs, that can't be that hard, Microsoft had this figured out 20 years ago. The final straw was the omnipresent soft-rot where everything gradually grinds to a halt after months of using it. Eventually my install started to spin itself apart and become completely unstable and updating for hours every time I started it up.

Heard about a thing called Linux. People said it's for spergs and trannies. I don't care. My incandescent rage was replaced by a rekindled love for computers. There is no conceivable universe where I will ever use Windows again.

How do I fet started with linux?
In general I would suggest directly creating a bootable USB of the distribution you're interested in, if you have a stick lying around. Alternatively you could try setting it up in a Virtual machine.
For example: The Linux mint installation guide should contain most information you need to get it up and running.

Booting into the USB puts you into a live session where you can test out the basic functionality before proceeding with any installation.

Pick a common dpkg/apt-based distro (Mint, Ubuntu, PopOS) and try it in a VM first. See if you can find your way around the system. Learn how to use the terminal for basic tasks like installing packages, get your games working or whatever it is you typically do on your computer.

When in doubt, always RTFM first and google a lot. /g/'s friendly linux thread is a pretty good place to ask questions, the linux stackexchange and the arch linux wiki (a lot of it applies to any distro) are probably the most valuable resources as far as advanced troubleshooting and info about software is concerned.

If you like the system, you can then do a cold install.

I gave up on 11 after installing it on my laptop that couldn't install it at first because it had an unsupported cpu, which was retarded becuase a similar kind was allowed, but not the one I had. so with the help of some shit I downloaded from GitHub, I got Windows 11 to run, which was the equivelent of the thing decaying but remaining usable to longer I used it, as shit just stopped working or would randomly stop for no fucking reason. Which is why I jumped to Ubuntu and it's working as expected.
If MicroShaft wanted to get people onto thier new OS, they could do this thing called allowing more computers to upgrade to W11 for free and not arbitrarily locking out people from doing so becuase they had hardware they didn't like, kinda like that "Nintendo would be better if they didn't DMCA" joke only unfunny autistics that believe what they say would make but actually relevant.

These kinds of threads always crack me up. If people would invest the energy they use to go through insane hoops to keep windows usable into getting into linux, they'd be proficient linux users in no time.
IMHO the biggest problem Linux has these days is its users. The zealotry many of them have for their chosen OS and/or distro is off the charts. Linux zealots are right up there with EV zealots as far as obnoxious faggotry is concerned. Maybe this'll change as more regular folks start using Linux, much in the same way as how regular folks are finally starting to buy EVs.

I miss win 7. I was very upset when I could not stop the canceraids update from updating, however win 10 hasn’t been that bad.

I have (probably autistic concerns) over win 11 and subscription models in the future so trialled linux on an old hdd six months ago. I now have Garuda and Mint on one SSD (don’t ask) but I still have win 10 the other SSD for anything I absolutely cannot do in linux (rare) but if I can do it, anyone else can.

I regret not listening to those I considered super nerds (sorry) twenty years ago. Try it, you might like it.
