I kind of get it. You have to be credited for your work. But Neil Druckman is the only credited writer on the game as far as I can tell. And Bruce doesn't work on the HBO show. Maybe he's looking for a special thanks?
 
I liked the first episode but apart from the fact that you can't monetise people watching the cutscenes on youtube I don't really know what the point of this adaptation is. The game was already a movie.

I thought that at first but Black Sarah has a lot more personality and actually kind of talks like (game) Ellie so I think they potentially have that covered in probably a better way than the game did, since it was pretty vague there and seemed like not much more than having to take care of a girl around the same age. It never had anything to do with their appearances anyway.

Yeah guys im sorry but I have to chime in and say TV version Ellie makes me actively cringe at least for the first episode. She looks completely off from in game Ellie, and not in a good way.

Although I find this to be a problem with the whole show. The characters are so highly detailed in TLOU part 1 that it makes everyone in this show feel like dollar store verisions of the real thing. But at the same time they have accurate costumes so they also feel like people cosplaying.

Unions won't do anything to stop things like this. I have to laugh at retards who think unions will make working conditions at studios better because they are universally the same people who complain about sexual harassment. Guess what? Unions are notoriously fond of protecting sexual predators, just look at the teachers unions.

Unions should only be a thing in industries where you can be maimed or killed easily.

The first game developer union that all these idiots shilled, Game Workers Unite, was IMMEDIATELY a hotbed of sexual assault allegations

I honestly just feel like the first episode was a significantly worse version of the start of the original game. The pacing is bloated, the explanation of the cordyceps at the beginning felt really forced, the action of the initial outbreak was much more muted, and Joel/Tess don't brutally murder Robert like they do in the game -- which was a good display of how callous and cruel the two could be in a world as violent as TLOU's.

Emil is decent actor and in some shots looks like Joel but he's not big enough, or he is framed as a lot smaller and more pathetic since Neil hates the character. I find it hard to take him seriously.

Shovelface isn't even worth mentioning, no way I'm going to be able to look at her for long periods of time. Seeing her triggers a visceral reaction of uncanny valley, like she is some kind of grotesque flesh golem made manifest, skin stretched over a crude approximation of the human face.

Also the zombies are worse, somehow. No clickers? Way to take the only thing that made the infected even remotely interesting away from the mythos.

It sounds like content has been held back from Season 1, just so Drunkmann and Mazin can go all-in on Part 2 in the later seasons.

Also ruins another one of the better aspects of TLOU as a setting. It's more believable that the infected would destroy humanity because they unleash massive spore clouds that infect anyone who is unfortunate enough to wander in, much more effective than mouth fucking the nearest person.

I'm very interested to see who they cast as Abby because one of the things shills were constantly spouting was that Abby was totally realistic and that if sad incels went outside they would see dozens of women with Abby's physique and body shape.

So based on this they should easily be able to find a biologically female actress with Abby's musculature.

Right? They didn't lie to us? Right.

getting a bodybuilder whos also semi good at acting might be challenging but if you went to a gym other than planet fitness youd know that your average dedicated natty female lifter doesnt look all that different from abby, nor are female gymrats all that uncommon.

abby isnt especially big. she only looks massive because she has a developed upper body (unlike the typical cardiobunny pilates fitness influencers on instagram) and wears clothing that obscures her hips rather than the usual gymshark top and leggins.
