Fanfiction Horrors

What in the world would drive someone to make this kind of fanfic? Then again, with the way Fire Emblem has gone in the newer games, stuff like this was inevitable:

View attachment 4275184

And the writer is Anonymous too, is there a reason why AO3 allows people to post fics anonymously?

View attachment 4275185

And someone thought that emphasizing the messy parts that happen after someone dies, is an important enough detail to be included in a Fire Emblem fanfic of Edelgard being executed.

And why are 4th Wall breaking fics with Fire Emblem Heroes a thing? Not to mention the sheer amount of literal shit in this fic...
A fanfic. About. Fucking. A baby.

What the actual fuck.

I knew fanfiction was always a bit of a cesspool because the whole concept of it is literally anybody can write a story and post it no matter how bad it is, but at least back then most people attempted to write stories even if they were wish fulfilment fantasies. Nowadays they feel more like soapboxes or retards airing out their daddy issues (very common for troons) and it - like everything else I like(d) on the internet - is absolutely soul crushing to see.

I kind of want to know - are there any groups still out there who just want to write fanfiction for fun anymore? Or is it just nothing but LGBTQAWTFOMGBBQ+ shit? I miss the days of just sperging out with fellow retards about our stupid story ideas... *sigh*

Not gonna lie, i genuinely miss the 2000's, it truly was the golden age for fanfiction, even if most of it was shit from time to time you would find something worth reading, something like a fic about a cartoon or anime that stopped airing years ago or about a game that never got a sequel, back then facfiction was a medium for people to create more content out of something they liked. But that's no longer the case, obscure or old stuff don't get any fics nowadays, and popular media only gets either fetish fics or propaganda.

I still browse FFnet every now and then, hoping i'll found something worth reading, but those good old days are not coming back.

Not just based on one story / franchise but two. These faggots have no imagination.

Like a lot of things you remember only the good parts and not the bad parts. But even back then the fanfiction scene was full of autists and people writing out their own private fantasies with a heavy dose of fetish material.

Don't believe me? This is Anthony A-Log Logatto's work from 2002.

some autist said:
The World's Luckiest Guy

by Anthony LoGatto

Rated NC-17

Prolouge

Written: 1-6-02

Finished: 1-13-02

(the prolouge opens in Anthony's room, where the morning shines a crack in his window curtain. He is asleep. Pan towards his door as someone enters in slowly. A female cat in a maid's uniform slowly and quietly walks in. She has long blonde hair and glasses. The maid is actually Callie Briggs from Swat Kats. She takes a look at Anthony lovingly as she opens the curtains. She looks at him again, and gets a michevous grin. She gets a really *NAUGHTY* idea for him. Pan towards his face as he is asleep. He then stirs and yawn a bit. Cut to his vision as he sees Callie, his maid, giving him a blowjob. He is confused at this but enjoying it.)

Anthony: (as he stirs a bit and notices her) Callie? What are you doing?

Callie: (stops a second and takes his shaft out of her mouth) Oh, I'm just giving you my way of saying 'good morning' to a handsome stud like you.

Anthony: (gets it, and smiles) Oh. Continue then.

(pan towards Callie, and she does that. She bobs her head up and down on his black cock, continuing as she hears his whimpers escape from his muzzle. She then stops.)

Callie: (erotically) You should know that I have a crush on you.

Anthony: So?

Callie: (erotically) I know that almost every girl wants to sleep with you. But I think that you need to lie down before anything bad happens.

Anthony: Oh that. I have used condoms when I do them. Some even took birth control pills beforehand. So therefore I wouldn't make them pregnant.

Callie: (erotically, as she lowers herself down on his pelvic area) I took mine this morning. So... (guides her hand on his chest) I think it's my turn.

Anthony: (smiles) Be my guest.
...

If anybody wants a laugh here's a link to the series: https://encyclopediadramatica.online/Anthony_'A-Log'_LoGatto/Fanfiction/The_World's_Luckiest_Guy

More ponies! This one starts as a sex comedy and devolves into soap opera-levels of melodrama.

I'll never understand why some fics are so highly rated...

Holy shit this bitch.

I remember making a Reddit post about this author on r/fanfiction pointing out how awful her writing was and my post ended up getting removed because criticism on there isn’t tolerated in the slightest. Someone ended up DMing me shortly after my post was removed agreeing that she was terrible. A couple weeks later I hosted a chat party in one of my Discord servers and we read her Mortal Combat fanfiction. She is truly a god-awful writer, not in the funny crack way like the funnybunny16 author I commented about previously, but like legit shit. She needs a lot of work but hey, no criticism allowed.
Never been on kiwifarms before but i saw the upper post being posted on reddit r/ao3 by the person you all were talking about, the title was "I found this post by accident & now I can't stop laughing at trolls." I decided to check out what this thread was about, but I'm gonna have to agree with you all on this one.
I checked out her works, and god damn I was stunned, not only is it awful writing (could not get through the dialogue at all) but the things she writes about like, rape, incest and pedophilia... goddamn.
I fucking hate that r/ao3 and r/fanfictions have become a place where it's not okay to call someone out on the awful stuff they write, but it is okay to bash on people for disliking the awful stuff. The amount of times I see someone posting a hate comment they got and I check out their work and it's absolute filth ridden content, they deserve that fucking hate.
I recently saw someone post the hate comments they got for a fic they wrote about a horse raping a 12 year old, celebrating the fact that they got so much hate, and everyone in the comments was supporting them saying that people shouldn't leave hate and just ignore it.

I'm just genuinely wondering, do people not find at one point, that a line is crossed? Some things you just DONT write about because it's absolute degeneracy. I also hate the fact that people defend it, like as soon as theres any critism or hate they jump to reddit to complain about it and everyone in the comments is showing them sympathy. Why don't they take a second to reflect on why they are getting so much hate? God, some people are so fucking stupid.

Ah yes the classic, "if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all" or the more modern take, "don't like? Don't read!". And that's part of the issue you find on fanfiction sites. Authors only want to hear positive comments and anything even remotely negative, even if it's constructive, they don't want to hear. But it's just as important to listen to your critics because even if they're being meanie pants for saying your story is bad they often pull out reasons why it's bad and those are things you as the author can change. Ignore them at your peril.

As for the rest I get it. Some people are into some sick shit and they don't want others to tell them how sick they are for liking whatever. To them they're the normal ones and everybody else is abnormal. We've all seen this before. Some guy you know is into some sick shit and you tell him that but he doesn't believe you because he's incapable of listening to anybody but himself. He thinks that because he's into (*enter disgusting perversion here*) that everybody is into it but he's the only one that is being honest about it.

No. It means he's into some sick shit.

Dalton was reversed on appeal.

Still, your life is (absolutely correctly) completely over if you're known as a piece of shit who created such materials.

It wasn't directly overruled for First Amendment reasons but because defense counsel failed even to make such an argument, thus providing constitutionally ineffective counsel.

I haven't seen and do not wish to see such material, just the description of it is sickening, but it is possible that if it lacked "artistic merit" of any sort, that a conviction under obscenity laws could conceivably be constitutional. "Artistic merit" doesn't by the way mean that it's a literary masterpiece or something but that it has some purpose other than as fap material to a depraved pervert.

So for instance, Naked Lunch, which contains absolutely depraved and repulsive content, withstood an obscenity prosecution largely because despite this, the work had actual literary merit (in addition to being absolutely hilarious at points).
I didn't look over the details carefully, and frankly don't want to, but ineffective counsel does not a free man make. It did allow the guilty plea to be struck which allowed for a new trial and it was there that case was ultimately dismissed as the charge of non-photographic child pornography "did not meet the standard of the Ohio law". In other words it wasn't worth wasting money on a trial that was unlikely to lead to a guilty charge and would be thrown out in appeal anyway. Thankfully, Dalton is already a convicted child predator so don't have think too much about whether he was able to hide away from those accusations.

As for the obscenity laws that does bring up an interesting point. I believe Dalton's writings were discovered by his parole officer so without intention to sell or distribute those laws wouldn't be relevant. But if he had sent his stories around or published them online, maybe a case could be made. The obscenity laws do make a special provision for visual depictions of minors, even including drawings and paintings, not just photography, but makes no mention of text. Maybe it should.

I've read a Warhammer 40k one about a guardsmen tangling up with an Eldar called the Bearer & the Blade, which I've found to be quite good for fanfiction.
The guardsmen gets possessed via the influence of an artefact, which he's unaware of that's the case and the Eldar only wants to keep him alive long enough to see the artefact delivered to the Eldar forces.
It may or may not be to your liking, I only started reading it after bingeing the Gaunt's Ghosts series.

"I may write fanfics about my fantasies about anally raping newborn babies, but at least I'm not RUDE!"
And yes that is exactly the kind of response you find on fanfiction sites when somebody gives some constructive criticism and the author loses their marbles.

There's some fanfictions out there that are perfectly fine with no obvious faults. It's just that I'd say 95% of them are utter trash.

And those 95% span a spectrum of "well, that was dumb" to "oh god, part of my soul just died".
The worst example are those that have a Mary Sue character that is obviously the author's self insert and they have an obvious version of Chekhov's Gun at the very beginning. I mean this thing that they're going to pull out of their ass at the critical time is so obvious that it's practically a huge flashing neon sign. And they think they're being subtle.

And the best is when criticized on their story they say, "you can't do any better" and you spend an hour rewriting their story to show that you can. And that's literally just the rough first draft but it's better received than what they wrote.

AO3 in terms of net quality and the smut is better. The early days of fanfic porn had people using the wrong shit as lube, especially when writing male/male fics. That largely has been fixed, with Lube Being Everywhere, but in it's place that ABO shit has taken over. The Troon shit has increased, too.

The demographics of those who write fanfic are overwhelmingly white women, though there have been more Chinese women getting involved. AO3 is blocked in China, and you need a VPN to use it. In any case, it's women, white "enby" women, living out their fantasies through reading two white men (majority of same sex pairings there feature white men, go figure. Voltron and Shadowhunters, or the Untamed or Kpop bands, are all mixed or Asian). They know what men are.

With the blocking button now implemented, and ability to shut off comments entirely, authors truly remain in an echo chamber. Fanfic politics has become more entrenched, and you'll find pro shippers supporting literal pedophile organizations like Prostasia or telling TERFs to go die in a fire. The discourse is dominated by Jews (go figure) or fat black trannies. I have a fuckton of receipts, but you'd get the most from LizCourseRants, who compiles FBI style hand books on people she doesn't like.

FFnet has a shit interface, but it is great for it's private message system AND permanent reviews. It's the Yelp of fanfiction. AO3? Authors can curate comments, so you'll never see a bad word.

Edit: here is Lizcourserants speaking positively on Prostasia. https://archive.is/bIqt6

IIRC, authors can't curate notes or tags on bookmarks, so a bookmark can work as a review in a way as long as it doesn't violate the site's rules.

Of course the trick is to get people to actually use it that way.
True, but reader feedback is important to a writer. Of course, you can decide in the end whether the advice is genuine or not (I've gotten a few weird stan-like replies that have no substance and wanted to pick a fight), but I see far more open feedback/free discussion on substack posts.

Only a few authors I have found have actually been receptive. You can be as nice as you can, no insults whatsoever, and be informative, and the authors will still hate you. Really the only way you can tell them straight up is on tumblr now, ironically.

It's the same on the AO3 and fanfiction reddits, as noted above. Very little of it has to do with writing, but politics.
