Trannies didn't carry the movement into the forefront of public consciousness and drive their own numbers up by an order of magnitude all on their own.

After the Obergefell decision and the removal of "Don't ask don't tell," (which was never replaced by anything limiting the inclusion of transexuals) groups like the Human Rights Campaign were forced to either close up shop, or press the attack. They chose the latter.

They advanced lawsuits against bakeries and pushed to include "gender identity" under Title IX. This was all being backed to the hilt by the APA (by reclassifying gender identity disorder) and Academia (by rejecting virtually all criticism of gender ideology) writ large.

This was all pushed by blue haired feminists and their parents in places like Berkeley California and Madison Wisconsin. All to the applause of the same lunatics who have been decrying the supposed oppression inherent to the nuclear family. This was supported by all of the usual suspects including Code Pink, the HRC, the ACLU and others. This is undeniably an outgrowth of feminism. The only question really is whether or not it was an inevitable outgrowth of feminism.
