So we got some Q and A for RWBY Volume 9.

Holy shit! Who the fuck thought this was a good idea?
Q: Will Volume 9 be “free” to watch anywhere?
A: Not at first. For a 12 month period, V9 will only be available on CR’s premium paid subscription service, which begins at $7.99 per month for the basic Fan tier. CR also offers a free 14-day trial period so you can test it out.

If you’re an anime fan, this is one helluva deal, and it’s just $2 more than your RT FIRST membership. For more information on Crunchyroll’s subscription tiers, please visit www.crunchyroll.com.

Sometime after the initial 12 month period, all episodes of V9 will eventually be available for “free” on the AVOD side of RT’s platform. But again, we do not yet have a sense of when that will happen.

In short: if you wanna watch V9, your choices are either subscribe to Crunchyroll or wait a year and watch it on either CR or RT platforms.

What’s the point of RT First then? Is this Warner Bros deliberately kneecapping Rooster Teeth?

Oh, and the fans are justifiably pissed, especially since Geoff is just responding with "well, don't pay for CR and just watch it when it comes to our platform next year".

I'm going to guess it was some suit's idea, because I can't imagine RT even with all of their bumfuckery willing let one of their original IP's, and one that still makes them money, be hosted on another site behind another paywall for a whole year.

So we got some Q and A for RWBY Volume 9.

Q: Ok cool, I’m just gonna pirate the show then. You got a problem with that?
A: Yes; we seriously have a problem with that.
**THIS MIGHT BE THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU READ TODAY**
We realize that many of you will assume that it is now “ok” to pirate the show because it’s on a big media platform and the IP is owned by a big media conglomerate. Let me be clear: PLEASE DON’T PIRATE THE SHOW. Pirating RWBY hurts us in so many ways and has a direct impact on the content and CRWBY.
I cannot stress this enough: RWBY lives and dies by how it is monetized by you, our fans.
Many folks assume that, given that RT is wholly owned by Warner Bros Discovery (WBD), that we have an endless pool of cash just laying around. You could not be further from the truth. While we are indeed owned by WBD and love being a part of the family, we typically tend to run RT as an independent business within the larger framework of the organization. Contrary to popular belief, we do not receive an annual bucket of money to fund the show.
If you care about the show and you want to see future seasons, spinoffs, etc, then please watch the show using legal means. The bigger splash we make on CR, the better the future is for RWBY. Please - don’t be a jerk. Don’t pirate our show.
That's some real desperation right there. You can almost taste it. Damn, even the subreddit full of the last handful of RT cocksmokers are confused by this business plan instead of just blindly backing RT.

remember when Linkara came out with that banger "Please click on the ads" video or some shit? and got roasted over it?

if your business has the risk of people just walk in and stealing your shit and there is 100% nothing you can do to prevent it, then you just have to accept it. begging people not to, at best, comes off as desperate and pathetic, at worst, it makes people who otherwise weren't aware pirating was an option considering it now.
