Just to play devil's advocate here for a min - I wanted to point out that Chinny's conversion to Islam really isn't much different than all the people who suddenly experience Jesus and convert to Christianity. Most of them haven't read the whole Bible or any Christian writings and just get wrapped up in emotion and community and ritual (which humans love whether we like it or not). And I've known several folks who suddenly see Jesus because their fiancee really wants them to. Sure everyone side eyes them a bit, but generally we roll with it. Islam is really pretty close to Christianity in its conversion requirements - you just gotta believe in their version of Sky Daddy and say it out loud. Even if she doesn't pray like she's supposed to - or Salad for that matter - they're still Muslims, they just arent very devout Muslims.

Edit to not double post: @Clotso Coof - to be fair, Muslims in Ottawa generally don't end up a foot shorter if they drop Islam. That's a very specific situation, and I for one will be surprised if she makes it back to Kuwait.

I've known quite a few "born-again" types who were full of enthusiasm until the first problem or hard situation came up (see Matthew 7:24-27 for the parable of the house built on rock, and Matthew 13:3-8, parable of the sower). I'm Catholic, so I'm more familiar with our process, and converts go through a pretty long period of study etc., (RCIA - Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) to teach the beliefs of the Catholic Church, and there are several ceremonies for the "catechumens" from Christmas to Baptism on Easter Sunday. Even cradle Catholics like Chantal sometimes take the classes (without the Church ceremonies, because they're already baptized, etc.) because so many people don't remember anything (*if* anything) they were taught as kids.

Chantal knows nothing about Islam, and she is in for a rude awakening. I don't know if they do like the LDS does, and *purposely* withhold the "hard" (read: completely insane) teachings until after the person is baptized, but she is going to rue the day she responded to Salee's message.

I guess I'm going to get reamed for this post but I *almost* feel sorry for her, and wish there was *someone* with a modicum of sense who she'd listen to.
