Another website picked up the story about the "Fursonas" Documentary maker's feud with Kage:

Once again they talk about Kage's "hateful and condescending speech about Boomer the Dog", which leaves me wondering when everyone decided Boomer was suddenly someone we wanted to represent the fandom? Last I checked, pretty much EVERYONE said "hateful and condescending" things about Boomer when he was on Dr. Phil (same goes for Chewfox on Tyra Banks) and was going through the steps to change his name.
I'm starting to think this Dominic Rodriguez guy is a humongous furfag who buys into the "we all must be accepting" bullshit that is so prevalent in a part of the fandom. Kage has his (many, many) flaws, but his banning of Bad Dragon and calling Boomer a "nutcase" are pretty low-hanging fruit. Why not dig into his friendship with 2gryphon, who's been known to say all sorts of offensive things?
You have mysterious businesses like Bad Dragon, FurAffinity committing what some would consider fraud back when they accepted donations, and all the other crap that goes on in this fandom, and the story that gets into the press is "Uncle Kage banned dildo sales at Anthrocon and called a furfag a furfag." Really?

It's unfortunate that bronies are associated with furries, because we really don't like them very much at all. Same with Tumblr Otherkin.
Uncle Kage is fucking legit. He has a spotty batting average in the fandom, but he's not afraid to tell it like it is. Years and years ago when Vanity Fair was interviewing retards in the fandom that made everyone look like gross fools, Kage stepped in and straight up said those kinds of people don't represent the fandom and used terms like "creepy uncle that we don't let the kids near" to describe them.
He has every right to claim that Boomer & Co are fucking idiots, because they are -- and they don't do anything to improve the reputation of the fandom, something that Kage has striven very hard to do.

There was also the time he banned Prawst* from AC over some YouTube videos while letting convicted pedophiles like Tora come back each year. Or the time he let said pedophile work registration, giving him easy access to minors attending the convention.
(*To be fair, from what I've seen of him Prawst is an obnoxious cunt and I wouldn't want him around either)

Wasnt TORA's pedo status found a lot later? Did Kage really know and let him come back? I know Dragoneer banned him from FA and Dragoneer was upset cause he was friends with him.

Do we really expect everyone, Convention holders, website owners and the like to do background checks on all of thier attendees/users? If Kage knew and still allowed him to attend sure thats a problem but do we really expect him to search every state sex offender registry to find all the pedos among their attendees?

In the case of said pedophile working for the con in question then, yes, there should have been a background check. It's standard procedure when hiring someone for a job, especially one where they're going to be put in prolonged contact with the public and represent your company.
Obviously you can't run a background check on everyone who wanders into the convention, but you should do a check on your employees in order to ensure that your patrons are safe and also to avoid getting sued.

TBF, we are talking about furries here. So yeah, I think at least a cursory background check of con staff is not unreasonable, especially given how big AC is.

I mean if they want to be treated like a big boy organization, it's sort of required. Most employers at minimum do a bit of searching to see if you will fit in with the group and that you aren't a horrible perverted monster. Or in this case a horrible monster, since being a pervert is probably a given.

Just a few hours into being at Biggest Little Fur Con and I already saw our good buddy Pamperchu being mocked by airline pilots practically to his face (they were quite obviously sarcastically complimenting his overalls outfit) while waiting for an elevator.
Those little moments are why I love going to cons.

I'm remaining cautiously optimistic that Biggest Little Fur Con's staff has the capacity to steer their convention in the right direction. Geographically, it's not the closest convention to Rainfurrest but I guess it's "close enough" for a lot of these fucks.
