I came to the Chantal thread out of morbid curiosity and the high page count, and couldn't quite figure out the interest for a few hundred pages. But now after the time spent with her, I gotta say that the inability to laugh at herself while constantly laughing at others is one of her top cow traits. A quick "yeah haha I looked really dumb in that lifejacket but they made us wear them, oh well" would have diffused a lot of reactions, but instead she goes Smugtal and holier than thou.

The amount of debt from the bankruptcy is around $45k. This is not a lot of money to owe if you have a regular job and a steady source of income. If you do not, you are most likely on benefits and barely make ends meet. Thus, it is more likely that Chantal was on welfare when she applied for bankruptcy. The amount is likely not very high and would not be sufficient for her to purchase a car, and certainly not to take a holiday in Cuba and spend 3 months in Kuwait. She did not divulge her income to her trustee, but did she let the welfare department know that she had supplementary income? In many countries, including Canada, I supposed, this is considered welfare fraud. If not, she might be in a whole lot more trouble than just bankruptcy.
