That attack wasn't quick - whole operation was taking at least two months before it collapsed in mostly uncontrolled way (many ruzzkie vehicles left behind due to lack of supply) and also wasn't be planned as quick (operation from Kursk Oblast by Konotop and around Chernihiv wasn't the shortest way to Kiev).
