So, who is in the mood for an anime classic?

My friends, let me show you Japan's national treasure:

Unfortunately currently only four episodes have an English subbed version. Apparently a dub aired on TV back in the day but its lost media now.

Bungou stray dogs is clearly popular enough in japan to get this 4th season but I'm not seeing much buzz in western circles. I guess there's not enough marketable waifus? Too much keikaku doori mindgames as opposed to guys punching each other? Not that I mind much cause large fanbases get cancerous real quickly.
I can say from my experience that bsd is very popular in Poland and Russia. Case of Russia is obvious, but 7 years later I still can't understand why Polish weebs love bsd that much in comparison to those from western fandoms.
I do understand that. While I like the series in general I think the flashback stories are usually more interesting than the main one.

I don't get why people say this cause there's literally nothing gay about it whatsoever. I watch actual gay shit like Sasaki and Miyano but I see nothing gay about Bungou.
There is this moment in Dead Apple when Dazai tells Chuuya "You used Corruption, believing in me? How beautiful". Overall, some suggestive moments with them and official art, Chuuya acts like a tsundere towards Dazai, many people use this argument that real Osamu Dazai was bi, so it means his anime version is 100% confirmed bi. Oh, and there are many more pretty male characters who interact with each other. Kinda self explanatory.

Ye, I know him because he was involved in writing that trainwreck of a Hellsing TV version and Tamers oddly enough, which was rather good..wonder if somebody wrangled him in for that one.
Konaka needs to be tard wrangled. His Digimon tamers CD drama literally had his MCs fighting cancel culture and political correctness. And while it pissed off trannies it was a stupid plot which is why toei hasn't let him do a Tamers sequel even though he's been wanting to do one for years

And yet Toei will never-ever-ever follow up on some of the more interesting stuff Konaka left behind for them to play with, like the bloody Dark Ocean, Toei, you pieces of shit.

For me, the last few episodes of me watching Steins;Gate were almost too much to bear. There was the episode where I witnessed Suzuha announcing that she was John Titor’s daughter to Mayuri actually piecing together the fact that Daru was actually Suzuha’s daughter because of the time machine that he built.

The worst part comes in, though, when it was announced that Suzuka actually died 10 years from the past, as one episode alluded suicide to actually dying from an undisclosed illness.

Then in the case of Faris, she admitted that she had to change the past from 10 years removing almost everything from Akihabara because she wanted to save her father from dying by having to make up a plot of being kidnapped, even though she was on the verge almost being it while Okabe was assaulted after witnessing it.

Right now, later today, I’m going to witness Rukoka’s arc from already being turned into a teenage girl and possibly from his old boy-ish self. Also, Okabe needs to see if they can get the old PC back from him since it was not located in the shrine in which he located in the beginning.. Overall, this is a blast so far, and I only have five episodes and a special to go.

So unlike the fall season, winter 2023 seems to have some good shows and whole slew of isekai. Not sure if mentioned yet but some good ones I've seen are: Kaina of the Great Snow Sea, Handyman Saitou in Another World, and Campfire Cooking in Another World with my Absurd Skill. Kaina especially is a good one that has me hooked. So far great world building and very interesting biology.

I only played the VN and the scene you get John Titor's "I fucked up" letter is heart rending. It was one of my first VN's and I wasn't ready for this level of brutality that isn't just gore.

I'd actually love a sequel/spinoff for the John Titor ending. That whole sequence of events has almost limitless possibilities

Also, just as something the anime skipped over, the 'illness' wasn't an illness, in the future people are genetically programmed for either immortality or death at around age 50

Speaking of Steins;Gate, is the S;G 0 anime worth watching if I enjoyed the VN? I've heard lots of conflicting views about it.

When you say you enjoyed the VN do you mean S;G or S;G0? Either way, yes, but you should play/read 0 as well. The 0 anime isn't really an adaptation, it's a supplement. Unlike S;G where the branching paths are kind of all kind of on the same limb and heading in the same direction but have dead ends until you get to the true ending, in 0 you have six completely different limbs that you're exploring that are all individually necessary to reach the true ending of S;G and the anime is just another extra limb to explore

I made a post about it a little while back but if you want to watch through the whole series watch S;G 1-22, 23β (an OVA that was released to go with 0, I think you can just find it on youtube, don't watch through the credits because there's a huge spoiler afterwards), S;G0, then go back and watch S;G 23 and finish it on out. 0 doesn't have its own ending, it's all about everything that it took to arrange for the d-mail that Okabe gets on the roof of the radio building saying to turn on the news. It's a great addition to the story but it's not a complete story on its own

There was also a live-action film, based on what had been one of Japan's earliest superheroes who originated in the 1930s created by Takeo Nagamatsu. He originated in kamishibai, a practice of live storytelling with printed illustration cards that was popular with children in that era. He would later make the transition to manga, adapted in one case by Osamu Tezuka.

It appears the makers of this live action film, starring Sonny Chiba, attempted to keep it close to the look of the manga, and while there's a lot of obvious wires, the model work is imaginative and fun. The costume of Nazo, Golden Bat's four-eyed archenemy, however makes him look like a man stuck in a flannel sack.

I've played both Steins;Gate and Steins;Gate 0 VNs (along with the spin-off games and Elite). I've watched the original S;G anime as well.
In what ways does the 0 anime differ exactly? I know some of the routes from the VN were cut, but does it add anything additional that isn't in the visual novel?

I can't remember exactly how much OC there is because it's all an amalgamated blur in my head (I binged it right after it finished, which was within a few weeks of me finishing the VN) but it definitely expands on some key scenes, like future Okabe's disappearance. I wanna say it expands on Moeka and Maho's friendship a good bit as well

I've never played the VN but I feel like one of the few people on Earth who had mixed feelings on the anime. I always hear its an anime classic, but to me it came off as so much obvious emotional manipulation. It also had a common anime problem where it seems like its leading up to some mind-shattering revelation but then it turns out to be something lame.
