It looks like he has a venue in mind. If you’re going to put a show on in a theatre, you normally need to sign a contract months in advance. You need to pay for venue hire, including use of equipment. They will also need to supply technicians, who will need to know the technical requirements. This whole “I’m going to put on a show unless…” thing would be deeply unimpressive to any venue. Chances are that he’d still have to pay, because there’s no way they’d find a show for one night with less than four months’ notice.

TL;DR, he’s bluffing.

Columbia, Missouri is a college town and IIRC his father teaches at the University of Missouri. He might be able to book a one-man show in a loft, coffee house, or some other small setting. (And "He wouldn't buy me a house!" won't cut it)

And also by his own admission, this is not the first time he's been kicked out of their house so they're more forgiving than most. You really have to wonder what, when and where everything went wrong for him specifically when as far as I can tell the entire rest of his family is normal, even above average. The only angle I can think of he does have a twin brother, maybe his brother got more attention than him growing up or something?

I tried listening to this audio, and admittedly I was jumping around back and forth, but if anything it sounded like Dave was siding with his father against his mother here. Someone with a stronger stomach can listen to the whole thing, but this seems like yet another example of Dave not realizing that every piece of actual information he provides undermines his entire argument.

From Dave's point of view, his twin brother and his older brother were the golden children of the house and Dave was the despised fail son. This isn't hard to believe: I don't know what his older brother does but I know his twin is a detective with the Columbia MO police department and has been supporting himself and his family for years. And it's not uncommon for doctors to be Type A personalities with high expectations. (Though, to be fair, Dave would disappoint even a parent with very low expectations).

But even if his parents are the narcissistic emotional abusers he claims they are, Dave is 39 years old. At some point, you have to quit blaming your parents for all your problems and start taking some personal responsibility for your life.

Again, if this is what Dave had to grow up we're left with the question of why he came back to it. If he was regularly updating his Patreon he could probably double his income to $600 a month -- there are lots of angry atheists and troon-lovers out there. Toss in a part-time job at a coffee house and he'd have a furnished room before you know it. It might not have 1.5 bathrooms and a $1 monthly rent, but at least he wouldn't have to put up with his "abusive" parents.
