Battletech - Also known as Trannytech

A stupid attempt at handwaving. Also stupid because the Jihad marked the point where Comstar basically ceased to function as an organization and could no longer enforce technological stasis on the rest of IS society. If anything, tech advancement should have accelerated.
Funny thing is it actually did. Several technologies spread throughout the Is thanks to the Jihad. For example suddenly the Commonwealth and FedSuns have access to Confederation stealth armor. Or Heavy PPC's a combine technnlogoy can be found everywhere. Of course what did not happen until much later is the widespread production of "IS-made" Clan tech

Earlier in the thread I talked about how certain Clans not having units that represent their specialization was messing with me. While bumble-fucking around Cults3D for Battletech models I found a mech design taken from this: https://thezhukovau.wordpress.com/

This site has fanmade TRO's for Clans Hell's Horses and Snow Raven for units that actually tie into their lore, with some of the units being used by the Clans in general. Figured I'd get people's opinion on it here seeing as I've got no idea if it's good or not beyond the art being nice.

They look like they'd be fun to use but I always hold judgement for designs until I see them get actually used. I do like that two of my favourite vehicles the Zorya and Chevalier get spiritual successors in the Shara and Neith.

Honestly I love the dorky design of the Grand Dragon. If you like top heavy girls shes a good one to go to.

Also I wish Detocroix would just fuck off the internet already.

What super retard take is this? Battletech was every stereotype imaginable when it came out and that definitely isn't considered kosher nowadays by the brainrotted terminally online.

Not just that, the Japanese and the Chinese are widely considered two of the more villainous factious. The Clans diluted that somewhat, but between Kuritan expansionism and Liao... existing, it doesn't paint a very good picture. Hell, you could even throw the Clans in as a negative caricature of the Russians and the Mongols.

The setting is absolutely diverse. But it's diverse in a far more organic way than 90% of shit being produced these days, and that's how I want it to remain. If you're not having a setting where everybody is just the same uniform shade of brown (which is what happens when everybody intermixes in a cosmopolitan society), then absolutely you should have different, well-defined cultures and ethnicities vying for dominance because BT is a human setting and that's what humans do.

Seems to forget the rampant (and nuanced) space racism present in Battletech.

You can't get much more diverse than a Space Mongolian named Stefan Amaris like he was just an ordinary man of European descent:

Besides, you'd think these people would be screaming about the literal eugenicist, ubermensch fascists of the Clans who are blatantly the antagonist faction the minute they show up instead screeching about the Inner Sphere.
Fucking Capellans
Fuck racism. All my homies hate because we ain't First Lords an' sheeet yet.

Also, fuck the Dracs. The Fourth Succession War was a mistake in that it didn't give Luthien the Fat Man and Little Boy treatment.

Its kinda funny that come 3150 the Capellan State is top dog compared to the Commonwealth and Feds.
I said that because of how many times in the lore Capellans made things worse, so how worse is the situation in 3150?

If it wasn't for Fortress Republic they would have taken over Terra and smashed Clan Wolf and Jade Falcon into oblivion.

A lot of people overlook the flaws of the Clans in a way that fans of the IS/Periphery factions (except from Canopus) don't, they see the warrior society and that if you prove your worth you'll earn a place and don't see beyond that.

So Dominions Divided came out over the weekend and the reviews have not been kind, even on the OF where the fanboys lap up anything the writers send down the pike like it's the best thing ever. The whole thing makes no sense at all. As shamelessly stolen from the BT thread on /tg/:

>GBD on the brink of tearing itself apart over joining the Star League or not
>Holds a fair democratic to decide. Barely votes to join by a percentage point
>Alaric refuses them
>All but calls them a bunch of pussies for letting the lower castes have a choice to begin with
>Tells them they can only join if they stomp out the dissenters
>Completely justifies the dissenters fears by doing this
>Spits on the GBDs tradition by doing this
>Instigates GBD into a civil war that tears families apart and destroys a full 3rd of their military by doing this
>GBD is battered and bruised by the end of it, worse off in every possible way
>Everyone agrees that this is Alarics fault
>GBD still joins the Star League
>Clan Wolf takes another W

Someone somewhere mentioned maybe it was the writers trying to "subvert expectations" (and oh, how I truly hate that phrase) and just totally dropped the ball.

Ryan Johnson tried to "subvert expectations" and looked how that turned out.

Oh, fucking hell. Is this because the Dominion was beginning to look too powerful or something? Because that's how it always happens: a faction starts getting too big for its britches and threatening to actually be an existential danger to its neighbors, then they get a civil war that knocks them all the way back down, because BT cannot allow large factions to be destroyed anymore.

...I'm going to take this as a yes to a previous question I asked about whether or not the IlClan Era writing is going to suck dick.

But wait, there's more!

In order to distract the people at home, the Bears go to war with the Kuritas who are basically tied up with the Davions. Naturally the Bears win.

At the end of it all the Bears have beat themselves stupid and lost about 30% of their military, but it's okay because recruitment is up. Basically the Bears are right were they were at the beginning of the book, except now part of Alaric's Star League. Alaric comes out the big winner. At the start he had essentially a rag tag Galaxy of Wolf, Falcon, and Jags on Terra (because he's told the Wolves in the Wolf Empire "good luck!" and the Goons "piss off!") but now he has the Bears at his back.

It's funny because although the Wolves have always been Clan Mary Sue, the Bears have been the favorite Clan of line developers since they showed up and as such they have avoided civil wars, invasions, the worst of the Jihad, getting neutered in the Dark Age, and generally curb stomped via the pen. They've had some setbacks over the years (mainly in losing the bulk of their navy in one engagement but that was how the worldwide scenario played out plus Herb was always going to destroy everyone's navy) and even in their losing they end up gaining territory at the expense of the Dragon.
