But honestly, I'm not sure there are actual trans characters in Pokémon. The game is full of hulking great women NPCs but they aren't shown to be trans anywhere. And there is one trans-coded gym leader who looks like a woman but is a he, but Nintendo said he isn't trans. Other than that it's just the usual anime aesthetics of effeminate male characters and some androgynous females. I think Pokémon are playing with double-entendres because they know troons love their franchise, but I don't recall any confirmed trans characters in the game.

OK derailing over. I'm also hoping for no trans or non-binary characters in the Harry Potter game. It being set in the 19th century makes me a little hopeful.

I will also try to help re-rail the thread, that I see plenty of HP merch still sold everywhere you expect the books and related toys to be sold. It's always worth repeating that in spite of social media and its associated insanity spilling out into the real world in bad ways, at least said real world isn't entirely pervaded and perverted by it yet - even knowing the various controversies of Rowling like the troons but also supposed anti-semitism or cultural ignorance (per that idiotic "what stereotypical ethnic name would one get in a HP book?!?!") it's a happy reminder that Potter's very much still a franchise making money hand over fist and making millions happy, both those who grew up with it then and growing up with it now. In the trannies' case in particular I can't even remember any insulting or "insulting" trans metaphor in the books to boot, so you'd think they'd at least focus on Rowling herself and nothing more, separating art from artist, than attacking the franchise as inherently evil and by extension said millions who may not quite enjoy the attacks or guilt by association...

Minor PL but I have a friend with kids aged 4-8 who love Harry Potter and it is funny to think about them in relation to all the craziness regarding JK Rowling online. This past December they went to Orlando to visit the Harry Potter area at Universal Studios, creating what I imagine are going to be lifelong and impactful memories. I really don't see the tranny seething changing anything in the minds of people with these types of experiences. Much like the millennial attachment to Disney products, there really isn't much risk of widespread backlash given how entrenched Harry Potter is culturally. Funny enough, I think Rowling understands she is in a similar position to Chapelle (they can't lose) and is using that to further exacerbate the drama.
