Agree it wouldn't be happening to nearly the same extent if it was a man, but this isn't just the trannies. Twitter-tier lefties have been frothing at the mouth about her breaking rank in general.
The way I see it, the progressive types will endlessly go on about how we need more women creators and strong female figures and whatever else, but that form of feminism/progressivism is firmly grounded in the idea that women/blacks/gays could never succeed on their own, and therefore will be indebted to them.
It's the reason trannies have really taken over as the progressive golden child, because they see transexuals as being pathetic, weak, and easily disposable, so it's safe to support them because they they're easy to keep on a leash. They won't ever get out from underneath you.
So for a woman, they see the whole thing as being impudent and treacherous.
Now they have to convince themselves her work has never had merit and that she's always been a dimwitted biddy, because obviously some female children's author is a helpless moron who couldn't ever make it legitimately.
The idea of a member of a victim class succeeding independently is unconscionable to them, that's way more threatening to the fabric of their belief system than if it was a straight white man.
I feel like it's a little silly to even engage with the issue.
JKR is a very successful woman, she has plenty of money and she isn't going to be crying or balking on her beliefs just because a game didn't sell well. That's exactly the point, nothing they can do will hurt JKR or reduce her impact as a pop culture figure. If the game sold poorly, they could have their 15 seconds of satisfaction before they went back to their normal miserable existence.
