King of the hill appreciation thread - Yup.

It was time for King of the Hill to end. It was already getting long in the tooth, it didn't need to reach zombie Simpsons.
That is true. Though I will say, the later seasons of the show really were not that bad. Episodes are still watchable and entertaining. Later seasons of things like The Simpsons or Family Guy are not.

I hope they maybe do a miniseries renewal with Bobby maybe as teenager or young adult.

I've watched a ton of episodes and the show really is fantastic and keeps its quality all the way to the late seasons, with ton of commentary that sounds like the writers are time travelers. One thing I noticed online is people calling Hank a bad father for not being a helicopter parent yes man to Bobby, this is probably those people show their own dad complexes, because pretty much every episode of Hank and Bobby not agreeing on something ends with Hank accepting Bobby's choice or Bobby understanding why Hank disagree with him.

I'd say the hipster episode is one of the many episodes that age spectacularly. That episode where Peggy as a realtor help a few hipsters flock in the neighborhood only to realize that they're causing hell, especially on Rainy Street, is still a delightful episode. It also seems surreal that this episode was written by Jim Dauterive, one of the many writers and executive producers of the show, who would go on to also write and executive produce Bob's Burgers, which also happens to have a hipster audience.

Lot of people in the A&H thread about this show's comeback seem convinced that Bobby and Connie are going to end up together, but honestly I don't see it. They broke up because they outright admitted they have almost nothing in common and hate each other's interests.
Hell, I'm surprised Connie was even still friends with Bobby after this shit.

It's kinda weird, we do see them hanging out again after this, but this incident is never really mentioned again despite the fact that it would have been massively embarrassing for Connie.
If someone pulled this shit on me I would make it VERY clear that I never wanted to talk to them again.

Yea, it's weird they haven't touched upon anything ever. Like the two-parter Japan episode where Hank meets his long-lost brother, or the Dusty episode, where its revealed that Dusty Hill is also his cousin.

Hell, random people move into Rainy Street, like the football player, Caleb the bully and his family or the Canadian family.

Dusty was his cousin, not brother. And I hated that episode. Felt like they were shoehorning that whole thing in for some reason.

Well yea, the show had declined in quality once new showrunners took over the show with some lackluster episodes. All things considered, it's still very consistent with quality even with the downgrade.

Oh, and off-topic here, since Brittany Murphy and Tom Petty are dead, what's gonna happen with Luanne and Lucky in the new revival?

Probably a stunt casting gag when they were successful in getting the bad to do voices.

Kind of like when Home Improvement revealed that the neighbor, Wilson was cousin to the Beach Boys and had them show up for an episode.

I thought it was a decent enough outing, though I have cousins and relationships to them kind of like Hank and Dusty at times so maybe it just hit differently for me.

I'm assuming it will be some epic redneck death, and then Peggy and Hank took over guardianship of Gracie. I'm more curious how they'll deal with the true MVP of the show, though -- Principal Moss.

Id disagree in part, though not strongly. I think that the later seasons fell through a bit;

but not in a bad way. Even when it wasn't necessarily the best (Lucky, revamping Louanne in that relationship, etc) the show was still very fun and enjoyable.

You can also easily observe the seasons that Judge was more involved in, and where he was less involved in as well.

When people say that the showrunners are time travelers, etc- I think that whats really true is that we still have so many of the same cultural issues that we had 20 years ago; but they've just got a new face or new cosmetics really. Whether its hippies, hipsters, or the woke (or what have you). Same type of person, new uniform.
