There's a YouTuber who goes by the name of President Sunday who has been making videos 'proving' that a game made for manchildren is going to be bad, only to look like he's obsessing over Rowling:

If you go on LonerBox, Shaun or Jessie Gender's video of her (or even Lindsay Ellis) you'll find scores of handmaidens calling her a traitor. Even her being around normal women like Maya Forstater enraged them.I think one of the more ironic things to come from the online dislike of JK Rowling is that fact that most women who dislike her do not have to wish physical harm towards her. When they said #BelieveAllWomen, I did not think it would be trannies having to do the job that those women try to do when they’re behind a computer/smartphone screen.

Fantasy world aside, "Cho" is a given name and surname in East Asia. Wikipedia has a whole page listing people with the name or surname "Cho".One complaint I dont understand is the complaint about the names in HP being racist or whatever. Its a kid's book so there are going to be easy to remember names that rhyme or are alliterative. Its an easy and charming way for children to remember certain characters. I don't see how Cho Chang or Parvati Patel are racist considering there are people named that.
Did Rowling only confirm that he was black because the actor who played him was black? I still remember when she went through her phase of trying to retroactively diversify the characters despite diversity already being present in the books. In any case, I'm old enough to remember the shitstorm that happened when Rowling confirmed that the minor character, Blaise Zabini, (who again, wasn't really described physically in any real detail) was actually black and not, as all the fangirls had hoped, a skinny emo white boy just like in their sweaty fanfiction.
The absolute torrent of racist REEEEEing following that particular revelation was actually the cause of quite a lot of drama in the Potter fan communities back in the day.
Pretty much your average day for JKR on reddit.
Um, excuse you, sweaty, but the name 'Kingsley' is clearly a thinly veiled reference reference to the racist 'WE WUZ KANGS' meme so beloved by fascist bigots online.
Canonically, wizards don't even care about skin colour anyway, because to them the purity of your blood is more important, something Rowling explicitly frames as a bigoted, negative thing.
They want to unperson her but they can't because she has fuck-you money and a real legacy. So now they want the game to fail hard, to show that they can still destroy anyone who speaks out against them. That's what I gather from the reeeing, anyway.Really wondering why they laserfocus onto this game, maybe because chronically online trannies are very much part of the target group.
Yeah, it's a real reach. Someone should tell Jamaica that the name Kingsley is double plus ungood, I don't think they know yet.One complaint I dont understand is the complaint about the names in HP being racist or whatever. Religion is why some people started acting like JK/HP was the devil in the first place. The fact this is a thing is proof that humanity inevitably has to find something in the absence of a religious figure to deify and hold to godly standards. It happens with celebrities, artists; everyone notable. More and more I understand why religion is considered the glue that holds humanity together. In some ways, it's what MADE us stop being cavemen barbarians and progress as a species, in spite of all the barbarism that would follow in the centuries after due to immensely strict adherence and zealotry.
I know, I'm just saying the zeitgeist around people like Rowling isn't a unique thing, and it's a constant within the past century or so.Religion is why some people started acting like JK/HP was the devil in the first place.
It's no more racist than Yoshiyuki Tomino naming American characters shit like Marvel Frozen and Shot WeaponI don't know the series too well but I know about the Cho Chang thing because people keep bringing up the fact that it's not a valid Chinese name. That sounds more like an honest mistake than racism.

I never realized Parvati Patel was considered "racist" though. Patel is the "Smith" of India and Parvati is a Hindu goddess that some Indian girls are named after.

Not sure about religion, but I see it more as humans needing something to believe in, especially something which can justify their morals, as well as justifying the values of the society they live in. Religion works well at fulfilling those needs. The fact this is a thing is proof that humanity inevitably has to find something in the absence of a religious figure to deify and hold to godly standards. It happens with celebrities, artists; everyone notable. More and more I understand why religion is considered the glue that holds humanity together. Well atleesh our shhhhschools don't look loike Carl of Doo'y!It's height the British empire with colonies ruled by it all over the world, and you automatically gain British citizenship just by being born in one of them. Being magic, and having British citizenship is all you need to qualify to go to Hogwarts. Skin color, or ethnicity doesn't factor in at all.
And when their campaign inevitably fails, there will be even more reeeing about how the awful cis community doesn't care about genderspecials and how they keep buying HP merchandise even though JKR is LITERALLY KILLING TRANS PEOPLE WITH HER HATEFUL TERF BIGOTRY.
To which there is only one proper response:

"Harry Potter is the gateway to Satanism!" cried the enby "Wiccan" as they sprinkled the four corners of the room they're in with sage. The whole accusations of racism are because normies aren't responding in agreement to the whole "she is a hateful terf".
If this doesn't stick, they move into the next accusation. And then the next, hoping something sticks and harms her. Eventually they will reuse the whole "she is teaching children witchcraft and anti-Christian values" which coming from troons should be hilarious.
It's like poetry. It rhymes.
