This will sound stupid but, writing.
In Western media, writing any fictional medium of some sort is now bastardized with politics, virtue signaling, and referencing one's own popularity on a social media account. What happened to writing an actual good story? What happened to well-written characters? Every character nowadays just seems flat with social identities of being a non-white race, LGBT+, and any form of disability just slapped on there with 0 personality traits to back them up as good characters. Heaven forbid if they write a woman character. They assume being a strong independent woman is to shame all men for their existence.
The stories that these abominations are in are no better. It is a singular hardship they go through and at the end of the day the woke character wins, and we all saw that coming because all of them are predictable. Basically unchecked Mary-Sues running around fighting political ideologies the creator doesn't like and they shove a message down your throat that "Hey X is good and if you don't like x you should die."
They also write and act like the audience is a child, and if there is a vaguely hidden message in the story, they will HAVE TO HINT AT WHAT THEY MESSAGE IS instead of letting the audience figure it out for themselves.

I read and engage in media to escape from reality. I don't wanna be fucking reminded of every social injustice while I'm trying to relax.

Couple of pages back we were just talking about this but you are 100% right about the virtue signaling tranny sues.

It may have been mentioned, but makeup forums and related sites have been ruined for the most part, as well.

There's ALWAYS some ugly man who posts a picture of himself in sloppily applied blue eyeshadow wanting asspats for barely an attempt.
The women fall all over themselves telling him how stunning and brave he is.
And of course, all black men and women are worshipped, if you say anything mildly critical, you're attacked.
I was banned from a Reddit forum after Saint Fentanyl croaked, a black girl said the rioters needed to loot and burn the white suburbs, and I told her bring it on, we have guns and know how to use them.
It's fine to say blacks should loot and riot in my neighborhood, but not ok for me to defend said neighborhood? Fuck off.

They're also doing it for "brand collaborations," as well as finding simps who will fund their degenerate lifestyle outside of cosplay.
Not also, it literally is the only reason they do it. They wouldn't touch a con with a ten foot pole if it weren't mainstream and ll this money and e-fame were available. Is the same as promotion girls in car shows except its easier to get deals and simps on comic and anime conventions

Reminds me of how The Simpsons went to crap. Jokes are less "jokes" and more "exposition that's supposed to be funny" now.

Also yeah, seems most Western media from Current Year is watered down soy stuff.* And it seems that which isn't is naturally either fairly obscure or is "cancelled" by SJWs. I think I usually go with non-Western media, or Western media from before Current Year.

*Is Clown World pop music always either "cucked" sounding soy songs, or "hip hop" and that "Millennial whoop" (if female singer)?

1) My hobby of what-if and alternate history is pretty niche, but it too has been infected by The Woke. Mostly in the sense of 'diversity'. Screechings on English-speaking nations getting the lion's shares of speculation and story-writing despite the shocking revelation that the English-speaking internet naturally has the most sources for those places and people coming from there, endless cooing of hope that cultures that got stomped into nothingness in reality (regrettable as it is to actual anthropologists of course) don't get razed or extinct in the story despite plausibility demanding such odds will be ridiculously low, or attempts to focus on another nation/region/ethnicity becoming a generic 'wank' (the nation is successful and all goes right constantly in war and peace, expanding across the map fast and furiously) since in-depth sources tend to be slim or the writer doesn't know or research them innately.

2) Of course, in fairness to both sides of the political aisle, there's always those weirdos who tend to enjoy the Nazi, Imperial Japanese, or general dystopian stories a bit TOO much... it's doubly hilarious remembering a lot of Wokies or troons or such came from this side ORIGINALLY so you may be dealing with the same loser flipflopping considerably over the years!

3) Strangely, the hobby going on as long as it has online has led to greater scrutiny for plausibility and that's been a boon in many ways, but... in turn that accidentally stifled a lot of creativity in terms of original ideas. Scenarios like what GURPs or other RPGs posit would be justifably seen as cringe and never pass muster in today's well-researched or resource-filled places, but they had a certain soul and passion to them that a lot of scenarios or worldbuilding doesn't have nowadays.

Especially in regards to the English VA thing, I feel like it's become a trend in the anime sphere for modern fans try to emulate Japanese fan culture itself, whereas the older anime fans largely just considered those things to be particularly Japanese quirks. (Fangirling over voice actors, huge emphasis on cosplaying, waifu culture, etc.) Weird times.
With SJW crap added to the emulation as wokeism isn't really a thing among Japanese anime fans, I take it?

I haven't been part of the hobby for a long time but I hear from others that it's been ruined by weirdo woke poly erotic larpers and their fat girlfriends. How the fuck did that happen?

There's another hobby that I won't mention, I'm not involved in but I have a normie friend who's been part of it for a long time and he is so confused. Why are so many of the people involved suddenly "these man-animals?"(furries) and "there's even one that thinks he is a lizard!"(scalies) and "they all start a secondary twitter account where they just post porn"(After Dark). It's actually kind of sweet to see someone waking up to these things and carefully start using internet nomenclature.

KiwiFarms should really be a two week course in highschool Social Sciences, offered to both students and parents.

I miss when Star Fox was just a fun spaceship game with funny talking animals. Edit: Then as I got older, I discovered that furries ruined the franchise. You can't mention it without furries entering the conversation in some way, even in passing.
People seem to have misunderstood when I wrote "now" as if I meant I just discovered it.

Animal Crossing was a lot more enjoyable when it was less widespread. You certainly wouldn't have people yelling at you over your character's hairstyle being cultural appropriation, among other things. (Also, New Horizons has some bad and odd decisions in its gameplay, but that's on the game devs.)

I can't look at Blacksad without thinking of furfags. They soiled anthropomorphic cartoon designs forever.

I hear you. Although I once heard someone complain that the artist made the attractive women in those comics too “human-like” for their tastes.

Its true, every other character design is very anthro except the women.

It's gotten to the point where I almost exclusively interact with the Japanese side of anime fanbases as they're tranny and woke free, absolutely none of that horseshit in those communities, only discussion and fan content.
I am so fed up with Western society that I am literally moving to Japan in two months. It's the closest I'll get to "I don't want to live on this planet anymore".

Oh lord where do I begin.

Video Games have generally gone to shit since about the middle of the 7th console generation, due to corporate interests ruining the soul of every team who makes AAA games. Before then, sure corporations made the consoles, and sure they had in house studios who made games to the Corporation's whim, but generally the vast majority of games were made by studios completely independent from the console producer, and as such a large amount of really creative and interesting games came out in that time. Then the corporations realized how much of cash cow gaming was and seized the reigns of the industry, and once the microtransaction nightmare got rolling there wasn't any stopping what has become of modern gaming. Every game worth playing in the last few years has been an indie game, and indie gaming continues to be the true successor to the old pre-nightmare gaming industy.

Beyond the Industry, the culture around gaming has been irreversibly tainted by SJWs and corporate interest, and I can tell you exactly when the point of no return was, GamerGate. I wasn't there for GamerGate, I wasn't in the trenches, but from the stories I hear and the continuing effects of it upon the wider gaming media sphere, GamerGate might have been the one actual chance Gamers had to retake the reigns of their hobby's culture. Whether or not the inciting incident had any merit, the reason GamerGate blew up into such a big thing was because even the casual friday night gamer could fucking Smell the the infiltration of their spaces by those with ulterior motives. The wokescolds and the corporate shills. Unfortunately, the leaders of "the movement" were pretty retarded and picked possibly the worst battle they possibly could have to make their point about the gaming industry as a whole, and as such they were utterly beaten, and now the Media at the head of gaming culture is ran by those who don't play video games for the benefit of those who want to pimp the hobby out to their subservient consumer base.

Warhammer 40k has recently taken a fucking nosedive. The people who make 40k have been desperately trying to break the game into the mainstream in the pursuit of more money, and they finally succeeded with 8th edition in 2017. 8th edition is very much simplified compared to previous editions, and it had just the right timing to break out into the wider consumer base of newly middle aged millennials with too much disposable income. 8th edition was plagued with balance problems, but by and large it wasn't anything new, as GW can't make rules for shit and every edition since 3rd has had extensive issues that subsequent editions solve at the cost of inventing entirely new and unique issues. The problem was that 9th edition came out. 9th edition was an "improved" version of 8th that apparently had heavy influence from the competitive scene of 8th edition, and indeed it's heavy focus on balance and Meta makes that clear. In a hobby where you will spend more time assembling, painting, and basing your models than playing the game, having a constantly changing Meta like a fucking video game is pure retardation, but it makes GW a lot of money, as people who are stupid enough to play warhammer competitively will always buy the new hotness. Thus we have possibly the worst edition of 40k ever, where every army book is utterly broken to encourage people to buy in, and then 2 months later GW will release a points update or balance update which nerfs it hard in preparation for the next army book. Loads of people who play 40k for the correct reasons have jumped ship to Grimdark Future, Bolt Action, or other wargames, and generally the wider community has become an endless cesspit of autistic suffering, same as any other nerd hobby in the 21st century.

I won't get into the actual community side of 40k too much because frankly it would make this post too much of a textwall, suffice it to say that Woketards and troons cannot function in a community that was built by fa/tg/uys and forumites in the days before PC, around a game made by history majors who actually understood what the fuck they were referencing, without an ideological lens to filter it through for comfort. Yes, the Imperium of Man is a horrible fucking place, yes it takes it's imagery from equal parts Nazi Germany and the Inquisition, the imperium portrays itself as necessary for humanity's survival because all authoritarian movements do that, not because anyone at GW actually believes it. That is the central irony of the whole goddamn setting, everything is fucking horrible because human history has been on a continuous downward spiral for thousands of years, and the people at the top would rather revel in that spiral than actually fix it. GW and the creators are not endorsing these things by writing about them, nor are we endorsing them by playing/liking the imperium in the context of the game, because both the creators and us normal(ish) people are smart enough to separate our fiction from real life.

Tabletop Roleplaying games are fucking nightmarish right now too. Critical Role has led to DnD being infested with the worst scum and detritus imaginable, who are not actually there to play a roleplaying game, they are there to imitate critical role. DnD, having a virtual monopoly over tabletop Roleplaying as a whole, has thus bloated into yet another corporate cash cow, when before it was the refuge of rejects and outcasts. People who play DnD do not want to play anything else, even if they are aware that DnD is shitty, and will continually wallow in their own shit pit, and eventually it will bring the whole rest of the industry (what little there is) down into the shitpit with them. Wizards of the Coast seems to have capitulated on their whole open license thing, but they will fuck up again, and it will breed more ill will among the fans with more brain activity than a slug, so hopefully we will see the second toppling of DnD. With any luck, DnD 6th edition will be such utter horse piss that it will kill the NuDnD crowd outright, and drive any fans worth playing with into the wider Tabletop RPG scene, which as of late has been going through something of a renaissance with the advent of the internet and easy sharing of systems. There is some hope for Tabletop gaming, but it'll be a long time yet before things are actually better.

Gaming in general, but video gaming in particular. I've been a video gamer since around 1986, and I've seen what it can be go through many cycles, my biggest gripe with it now is really fourfold.

1: Politics shoved everywhere. This can be an amazing part of a story arc, or using the medium as a parable. Today, it's not used as a storytelling method mostly, it's used as a cheap gotcha, or worse, the entire game will revolve around one pertinent point to the story with no real exploration of any opposing perspective or viewpoint. Now, this can be fine if the world is built like so many, as a fight of good vs evil, but most recent games that have political connotations, whether overt or subtle, don't have enough depth for the message to come off as anything more than annoying preachiness. Now you could bitch up a storm about this on your favorite place to, or you could simply not play the game. Since I've been around games so long, I tend to just take the latter option, because unless I'm looking to troll the easily offended on internet spaces explicitly designed to take offense to reactionary or opposite opinions, I'd rather just go play a more fun game. And I can still do that, thankfully.

2: Corporatism. Literally anything creative will get sucked into the maw of this. I know many here won't remember the day of DOS and early consoles, but there was so much creativity in what you could do with really limited hardware and software. Hell, even when the original NES came out, there were plenty of weird and fun titles put out that were just there to have fun with. This continued apace until more or less recently, when video games became more of a lifestyle commodity than just a fun hobby or pastime. This can be blamed on many factors, but the biggest one imo was the big corps realizing what an insane cash cow gaming could be and then, in typical corpo fashion, having the HR departments hound all the fun out of it, while simultaneously trying to gobble every minutely profitable IP up with promises of absurd payouts. This works well for a very few, just ask Notch, but it stifles creativity overall. And the stuff that the corp teams themselves put out are almost* universally soulless cash grabs with great graphics and not much else.

*Japanese and Eastern Euro studios tend to be somewhat immune to this sort of thing, but I've noticed even they are being slowly forced by the hand of finances to change their products.

3: Gamer "culture". This ties in with 2, but used to be quite bit different. I'm not really going to get into what it was like pre internet, because it was magazines, BBS's if you had a modem, local people you knew into it, and the local software store, if you had one. The early internet was a total goldmine for this hobby, because you could finally connect easier and gush or bitch about it or trade patches, the games themselves *cough* Doom *cough* or whatever else. And most people were at least somewhat pleasant to talk with, at least until fandoms took root. This all changed when gamer/nerd culture got mainstreamed by the corps in 2, leading to a huge slew of people and entitled kids invading what used to be a very autistic, but usually somewhat welcoming disjointed community. All that crumbled in short order under a wave of bullshit, drama, trolling, tribalism and acrimony.

4: Social media. This barely needs to be talked about. Once everyone realized they could share their opinions with literally everyone, the niche stuff died off, or went to Reddit or Discord to ossify, be over moderated, or simply desiccate.

It's not all bad though. There's still tons of games out there, many old, some new you can have fun with if you truly enjoy gaming. It does help immensely to game with a PC though. You don't even need a really powerful one.
1- When that started I thought it would be a good thing because we would get more "serious games" like a WWI game about the horrors of verdum, something that games can do way better than movies. Instead we got another cowadoody battlefield with women and black men thrown in, not that there weren't any but women were mostly nurses and the black men were, the vast majority, conscripted colonial natives who were sent to the meat grinder, not exactly a woke thing to preach about is it? But they did, and now games are dumber than ever.

2- That has been a thing since forever but the real point of no return was when non-gaming corporations got into the game. When the PSX came out sony started pulling the same monopolistic bullshits from the movie and music industries where it already had a big portion of the pie. It started gobbling up studios with exclusivity deals, buying up game reviewers like they bought radio stations to play their songs.

And then microsoft which was an even worse monopoly than sony ever was decided to enter the market too, and unlike "smaller" companies like sega and nintendo they could simply burn money forever, which they did with the og xbox and halfway thru the x360.
They're also doing it for "brand collaborations," as well as finding simps who will fund their degenerate lifestyle outside of cosplay.
AI porn its getting scary good, the moment they figure out video its game over for costhots.
endless cooing of hope that cultures that got stomped into nothingness in reality (regrettable as it is to actual anthropologists of course) don't get razed or extinct in the story despite plausibility demanding such odds will be ridiculously low
Always mention the Assyrian empire in those conversations, its the best example that if some empire wont crush you then other will.

And they were 100% non-white but when you read the historical accounts they look like nazis on steroids. Even dirlewanger would be scared of these guys.
it's doubly hilarious remembering a lot of Wokies or troons or such came from this side ORIGINALLY so you may be dealing with the same loser flipflopping considerably over the years!
Every asshole I knew in HS who was an unironic bully saying we should nuke all muslims and called black people niggers with a hard-R is now posting anti-bullying shit, pro-migrant propaganda and blm spam.
I miss when Star Fox was just a fun spaceship game with funny talking animals. Now, you can't mention it without furries entering the conversation in some way, even in passing.
Furries have been into that since adventures and Krystal showed up like 20 years ago dude, where you been?

I can't look at Blacksad without thinking of furfags. They soiled anthropomorphic cartoon designs forever.
You know i hadn't thought about it but the old Disney cartoons like Tailspin or Ducktails are probably plagued with the same issues, i'm not going to ruin my fond memories with Don Karnage porn just yet. Never mind Disneys been particularly shit for many years now.

I've just started getting into survival camping, and i am pleasantly surprised to find none of the spectrum of tards or troons. Just middle aged guys building hunting camps and testing camping gear out or cooking over a stone pit with some mod cons its very comfy and informative.
