The Ukrainian commander says "You all are traitors. You gave Kherson to Russia without a battle, and now you're here?" The Kherson guy replied, "I am your own".
Russian TG channels had to translate the commander's words because he was speaking actual Western Ukrainian.

I don't think it's smart to be that aggressive with conscription. The whole thing of it is, if those dudes surrender and become POWs, they're not going to have any problems just handing whatever info Russia wants over to them and if Ukraine decides to go the unconventional route later on that's going to be absolutely lethal for them.

With recruitment tactics like that I wonder how many dead Ukranian soldiers died from Friendly fragging over enemy action.

You probably have a fair number of them just waiting for a chance to bolt to Russian lines and surrender. At the end of the day, having to live in some other country is better than getting killed for a cause you're not willing to fight for.

My wife asked me why the ukrainians don't do that. You have to consider that first you'll either have to convince your platoon to do so, or somehow avoid them. Then you have to sneak past the barrier troops, and finally cross probably open terrain without getting shelled / shot and hope the ruskies will not shoot you and will treat you well.
Not a life insurance plan.
