Furry Fandom and Drama General

Satire, but still made me laugh.

Army approves uniform modifications for Furries

“We are committed to allowing these people to follow their religion or their hearts or the voices in their fillings, or whatever the hell it is that drives them to dress and act this way,” said the source, who requested anonymity on the grounds that he didn’t want his name to show up in Google searches for Furries. “I mean, where the hell does it end?”

McHugh wouldn’t comment directly on the changes, which will be announced next month, but did note, “If a man needs to put on $2,000 worth of theme park zebra costume in order to maintain an erection long enough to satisfy a woman who is baaing like Mary’s little lamb, who am I to judge?”

FurAffinity is offline at the moment, and supposedly it's because it was hacked... again.

This is the third time a major incident like this has happened with the site.

It's worth noting that this past weekend, a new competing art site called "Furry Network" (owned by Bad Dragon) officially launched. Not sure if it's related but the timing is a bit suspect.

Official confirmation of attack by Dragoneer. He says no user information was affected, who knows if that's true or not.

The guy barely runs the site. Having a 6 day old backup screams of very amateur or cheap server design.

This is a big website not a mickey mouse operation. The fact that their reaction to a catastrophe was a 6 day old backup is garbage and a sign the guy has no idea what he's doing.

Considering the attackers had a copy of the site's source code and were capable of deleting user information, I'd say Spergoneer is lying through his teeth. Also, lol @ him suggesting anyone with information on the attack contact him directly, and not, ya know, the police.

Whoever is responsible for this attack, kudos!
Also love how poorly Neer is managing the situation right now. :) (As usual)
How long do you think the site will stay down?

Also waiting for a hoard of angry furries that will throw rage fits because their beloved porn mothership is down. :heart-full:

I thought the fact that Fagagoneer has literally zero idea what the fuck he's doing was made crystal clear years ago?

Real talk for a sec though I legitimately feel bad for some of the legit chill artists who live off this stuff seeing as their main form of revenue is now fucked because the site is run by the mentally handicapped.

FurAffinity is the fandom's equivalent of PayPal. Nobody likes it, people get fucked over constantly, and there's little to no customer support -- people only use it because they have to. The artists who are talented enough to make money off of their art maintain a presence on more places than just FA (SoFurry, Inkbunny, Weasyl, and now Furry Network). Someone whose business is "ruined" since FA is down and has a week-old backup is just as retarded as Dragoneer for hedging their entire business on something as rickety and disaster prone as FA.

That said, as far as I know nobody who is working on/for Furry Network would have access to FurAffinity's source code, so the attack seems coincidental and a link is unlikely. FurAffinity got hacked because... it's FurAffinity.

Since the site was sold to IMVU, is it possible they might of regretted buying the site from Dragoneer, especially since the site itself is crap?

The site will stay down long enough for furries to either cry at the loss of their accounts or go to some other furry art site. Aside from that, they'd have to scour the internet for some other porn mothership if FA was the only hugbox they had.

IMVU's reaction is currently unknown.

It's also unknown of IMVU actually regrets buying the site or not since their advertisements are plastered all over it. Ontop of it, it's clear a big reason why they bought it was to obtain a larger demographic since they also started selling furry cosmetics for IMVU.

In this regard buying the website might've proven to have made them a lot of money in the long-term. But I don't have any numbers or statements to really prove it since IMVU has been really tight lipped toward the community. Dragoneer has been incompetent long before the buyout and they might just be keeping him around to keep the lights on so their advertisements play for all I know.
