I have good friends and professionally they go by the wife's last name. And it's for a good reason the wife isn't related to the famous family the last name is associated with (think of it like Kennedy or Rockefeller) but still that last name on a business card makes you look twice.

On legal paper they've kept both last names as is the Spanish custom. I really can't grasp why Ian would just take his wife's name unless he really has some damn good reason to hate his family's name due to family strife. More likely he's just a beta male.
