Canada is a failed state

Sorry for the double post but gun owners won a round in Canada. Is it a move from Justin Castro trying to save some parts for the next election?

The Liberal government has withdrawn a series of controversial amendments to pending firearms legislation, Bill C-21, that some firearms owners say would have unfairly targeted hunters and farmers.

Faced with fierce opposition from Conservative, NDP and Bloc MPs and firearms rights groups, Liberal MP Taleeb Noormohamed said Friday the government is withdrawing a long list of guns that would have been classified as "prohibited" as part of a push to ban "assault-style" weapons.

The amendments, which were quietly tabled by a Liberal backbench MP in November, would have banned these weapons under the Criminal Code, rather than through regulation. That change would have made the prohibition much more difficult for future governments to reverse.

On the LPC side there's no major ballot question to pose to the normie public for another election. But things are aligning: 'just transition'(environment). federal powers, guns, and emergency act inquiry.

Trudeau likely plans to basically run against Alberta in a sudden election.

Already trailing PP by 7-8 points, and its scandal season they are just going to keep coming. Starting to remind me of the sudden end to the unstoppable Chretien.

Wasn't Chretien actually somewhat good? Before my time but I recall Canada being less of a giant shithole than it is now.

It ended in multiple billion dollar scandals run out of the PMO's office. Sponsorship, HRDC, and another one. The mass sellout of Canada to China and the CCP also began under that government although it certainly wasn't limited to Liberals.

His political skills can't be disputed, but was he good for Canada? Probably not. It just happened to be a very good era in general for all of North America and the current era is more like a slow motion suicide for Canada.

Chretien was in a way kind of like Nixon, fairly corrupt. Would use government resources to go against his enemies and always held a grudge. The 90's were a good time economically and culturally for the US and Canada. He rode the wave of prosperity, to being kind of liked. It also didn't help that he choked out a protestor and everyone thought it was hilarious.

He left his political enemy Paul Martin holding the bag for his corruption as he skipped out the door, leading to many people, kind of liking him.

Martin was toast once the stated figure of $140,000 in federal grants and federal business for his shipping mega corp. turned out to actually be closer to ~160 million. lolwut?

I had completely forgotten about that. The Liberal's really bellied up to the money trough in the 90's. There were so many scandals that you have a hard time keeping track. Guess they the current era Libs are keeping the tradition alive.

Funny thing is that he is also kicked up a hornet's nest in Quebec with that anti-Islamophobia representative and going after the notwithstanding clause. I don't know if that will truly cost him many votes in La Belle Province, but we'll see. There is also the fact that Trudeau and the LPC have been in power for nearly as long a Harper at this point so they are about as fresh as a week-old carton of milk on a space heater. Canadians are feeling the consequences of his reckless burrowing and spending, but Trudeau and his cronies will double down because they are so out of touch with the world outside the Ottawa bubble.

It will be interesting to see what Singh will do in the coming weeks. He is painting himself into a corner now that Trudeau endorses Doug Ford's plans for healthcare. For all his bloviating about holding Trudeau accountable, there will come a time where he may have no choice to topple the current government to keep what little credibility he has.

I remember the "FlyOurFlag.ca" website designed exclusively to shame Paul Martin's company (Canada Steamship Lines/CSL). I think it was the first time I ever saw a Canadian political campaign register .ca domains and build a successful website for such a purpose, it was surreal.


Martin de-registered all of the Canadian ships and re-registered them in every shit hole haven he could to avoid taxation and Canadian labour laws, he also used Ukrainian crews and fired Canadians. When Harper won his MPs still wanted to investigate more it was looking like the number of 160 Million in grift collected from Ottawa, was again not entirely accurate but Conservative leadership dropped it. Martin vanished over night and stayed gone.

Trudeau's coming scandals will be at least 10x larger and will make 90s LPC scandals look quaint. 100s of billions in "COVID spending" that went to "non-COVID". But worse yet will be the dopey Canadian public's reaction to the increasingly extreme and flagrant corruption (ie, almost none).

The anglo side barely hears about how Trudeau is really doing in Quebec with the francophone population and the calculations. They aren't necessarily fond of PP and Conservatives there either. Ultimately the BQ will make the gains.

Jagmeet cannot deliver on anything, nor can he criticize the government he supports or stop supporting them. Powerful man, at the same time is completely powerless. His credibility with any potential new voters is gone. NDP hasn't lost any polling support from their base of rabid retards since the last election but that doesn't necessarily translate to the same seat count. They do not stand to gain.

I'm going to be 30 this year and live with my mom still. My mom who can't walk unassisted and can barely do basic tasks now. I'm pretty sure I'll see her die in the next ten years because her health just gets worse and worse and nobody can really tell why.
My sister is a raging tranny who no longer has any semblance of the girl I used to know in her. All she is now is roid rage, depression and droning on about the "LGBT mafia".
My country is falling apart and I don't see myself ever having land or vehicle. Never raising a family even though I keep looking.

All the positive things from my childhood and early 20's are gone. The town I live in is basically unrecognizable. All the places I used to go are closed. All the hobbies I used to do no longer have a scene here. Most of my friends have moved away.

I don't know why I'm writing this out. I wonder if any of you poor fucking fellow Canadians can relate. Everything that was once good in this country seems gone. I hate it. I hate it so much.

I’m a lot older than you but I have this same fear for my young adult children. My one son has a mild physical disability yet has been working his ass off to save for a down payment in a house, yet every year it gets further away from him and he is constantly trying to catch up. I honestly feel they are trying to erase the white and/or ‘Canadian’ identity we once knew when I was a child in the 80’s and 90’s. This is something I really envy of the US and that’s their pride in everything they do. What does it mean to be Canadian anymore?
