Shrek is love, Shrek is life, Shrek is… missing?

Police in Hatfield, Massachusetts, have launched a search for a 200-pound statue of the cinema ogre after it was reported missing from its home.

The Hatfield Police Department posted an alert about the absent ogre on Facebook on Wednesday. They included a photo of the fluorescent-green cement statue, clad in Shrek’s iconic vest.

“If you have any information of his current whereabouts please reach out to our department or return him in the condition you found him,” the department said.

The Hatfield Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment from CNN.

And the swamp resident is already being missed, according to police.

“The dragon sculpture he lives with is frustrated and lonely,” the department said in the Facebook post.

Shrek, a green, antisocial and territorial ogre, is the titular character of the 2001 Dreamworks film. The movie, which parodies other fairy tales, has had an enduring legacy and spawned multiple sequels and spinoffs.

This is the most damning evidence I've seen that the country is in decline. Once Shrek statues start getting stolen it's obvious the social contract has been torn up and set on fire. Vandalism is one thing but precious art theft breaks my heart. Some exceptional individual must have spent afternoons to craft a piece of that size. I can only hope this Shrek makes it's way back home safety and that whatever criminal stole him in the first place turns himself in to make amends. This is what cultural degradation looks like people!

Who would steal such a poorly made statue? It's the equivalent of stealing a truck full of pump outs from septic systems. Woo, you stole it, now what the fuck are you doing to do with that load of shit?

I hate the overdone memes but the movies still have strong stories and messages. I still think highly of the series.

Honestly, the statue is awesome and I love it. Fuck whoever stole it, that's not cool.
While some parts of Shrek 2 are clearly references to early/mid-2000s culture, the movies themselves are generally timeless. The first movie can easily be considered a landmark in western animation, and it still holds up today.
Too be fair, at least you can tell this statue is supposed to be Shrek, even if it's ugly as sin.

The ToF just looks like a log from a horribly diseased tree.
Unless you knew what the ToF was supposed to be and you squint really hard, you wouldn't guess it was supposed to be Sonic. It looks like a bad attempt at one of those tree carvings that people do to make the face of a troll or something in a log.
