Victor Mignogna v. Funimation Productions, LLC, et al. (2019) - Vic's lawsuit against Funimation, VAs, and others, for over a million dollars.

You're not wrong but some blame is on Vic himself. He's not evil or anything like that but the dude clearly has a problem with keeping his dick in his pants. Should he be punished for that? Probably not, but the Universe seems to disagree.
Maybe they don't take too kindly to his type in Tyler, Texas. I remember Rackets saying years ago that the venue would be favourable to him because the soyjacks he was suing aren't exactly the kind of people your stereotypical rural Texan would sympathize with. I guess he didn't consider, or let the audience know, that the same was true of Vic.

We were told over and over again to just laugh and not get emotionally invested.

This is what I get for not listening.
I'm genuinely surprised to see so many people are still invested. My disappointment set in for good at the first loss. The only emotion I've had towards it since was surprise in finding out he's on the hook for fees.

I'm now curious many people who still care donated to the GFM and if there's any of it left in Escrow. Was Ty using the appeal to eagerly bill against the GFM or was decent enough to get money for his firm elsewhere when he could?

For all the drive-by posters, this isn't over.
There's one more chapter to be written.
@Ron Toye and Monica Rial won their cross-appeal regarding fees.
The case is going back to Chupp to have the fees argued, again.
Once that is decided, this case will be done.
As of right now, there isn't any filings regarding it, yet.

Can't wait for Vic to fined the whole go fund amount for no reason beyond.

It would not surprise me if Ty takes the loss on this and basically does not collect any outstanding bills there might be. It would also be no surprise if he was not billing anything since the TCPA fiasco. I would also expect that Ty would be providing legal advice for Vic to claim exemptions to having to pay any judgements in TX--a notoriously hard thing to do, if I have heard correctly.

I like Ty as a person, but he (or his firm) really screwed up this and the blame must lie with him as the leader. His lawyering was abysmal, and I would not advise anyone to use him outside his usual practice area. He should bear the costs of this massive failure and his professional credibility has taken a massive blow.

Why do I like him though? I firmly believe that he would agree with this sentiment and will take actions to mitigate the damage to Vic and shoulder the blame and recriminations willingly. He will own his mistakes (and whatever mistakes of others there may be) and not complain. I expect we will never know what exactly Ty did to make this right by Vic, but I believe Ty is enough of a gentleman to eat his share of the umble pie and more.

The funny thing is, the longer this went on, the more I saw KickVic people who AREN'T catty bitches stepping back and going "wow, @Ron Toye is a real piece of shit, I hope HE IN PARTICULAR loses his case. Fuck Vic, but fuck Ron harder." They were getting just as mad at Ty bungling the case as any Vic stan would, JUST because Ron was such a massive prick to everyone he ever came across. Imagine being so absolutely unlikable that people who were absolutely convinced that Vic was a sexual predator hoped that Vic would fuck you up the ass financially.

Sure, they won on paper, but you can point to millions of examples where "on paper" means jack shit. This is one of them, because while Vic didn't ruin Ron, Ron ruined Ron. He should be thankful that this didn't go to trial.

Ron can beat the Vic suit, but he can't beat his bad reputation like he does women with his TV remote

Let's remember he's actually really good in his usual practice area as a transactional lawyer. He's generally been in a world where billionaires make a deal on a smile and a handshake and then the details get smoothed out on paper so everyone makes money. He thought that was what he was dealing with here. He wasn't really ready for a knife fight despite all his wargaming nerd bullshit.

Vic might not have directly, but Lemoine certainly did. MoRonica still owes about as much to Lemoine as Vic does to MoRonica. My personal optimistic scenario, since SCOTUS is a pure pipe dream, is that Chupp is the pissy little bitch he's shown every sign of being, and when having his nose rubbed in his lackadaisical jurisprudence and ordered to do his homework by a higher court, he actually does and lowers their fee award even more.

Yeah that's :optimistic: but not more than SCOTUS dreams which are pure fantasy.

A shyster YouTube lawyer who was practicing less time than is required to become a senior at a big firm in an average sized city who only wanted clout and to rake in super chats and his bozo scammer lawyer pal LOST? Say it ain't so
I mean, you joke, but I got a lot of autism stickers for saying just this back in '19 and '20. He's an entertainer first and foremost. He has a law practice in the same way that Jiffy Lube is a mechanic. I'm glad people are finally coming around to the correct point of view.

Hopefully this whole thing is done The bar for suing people for speech- whether the action is defamation or interference- should be high enough that you get fucked if you drag someone into litigation and can't back it up competently. And every legal authority involved has found that Chupp\vic lost the case. John Jay could be brought back to life and he would roll his eyes at this entire mess. better to counter speech with speech.

And I can't help but think a big part of this mess started because people get annoyed by someone who is sanctimonious about his christianity in public and then tries to fuck everything that moves, has no concern for infidelity, etc. Someone in all that, plus involved in anime, should be just calling detractors fat instead of starting lawsuits.
