Again: to have currency backed by anything you must have reserves of that thing. You must paid for storage of gold/oil (let's say they was hidden all this time in basement) and them find someone interested in using the new currency.

How did did gold standard work in the past? when obviously in 1870 for example, there was not only less gold in the world. But I also doubt the UK had every scrap of gold in the world. So I imagine it must work on a theoretical guarantee system. Where they will guarantee to give you gold for the currency. But due to the confidence in the currency being backed by gold, there'd never be a need to convert every available piece of currency into gold their actual gold reserves.

Look, even if I, hypothetically, fully support Ukraine in its resistance against Russian invasion, using child soldiers is a surefire sign for me to stop giving them any form of support and told our government to halt any aid send to them.
In war, if you have to start drafting children, it's over. The Confederates and the Nazis did the same thing, and they lost their own wars.

A question; Why haven't more Ukranian soldiers surrendered? Do they not trust the ex-con Wagner mercenaries would treat them as fairly as regular Russian soldiers would?

Zelensky has banned a lot of critical Ukrainian TV stations. So you would imagine these guys are only being fed the idea that if you are captured by the Russians, they will cut you into pieces and be fed to dogs.

Tucker had a military colonel on talking of Ukraine. Might not be up for too long, due to youtube copyright.

How old are the absolute children in this thread supporting Putin?

These are literally the people who built a wall around West Berlin in 1961 and shot anyone trying to go to the other side from East to West. I just learned, "The authorities officially referred to the Berlin Wall as the Anti-Fascist Protection Rampart." This fuckface Putin was literally burning East German files after the collapse of the wall.

It's pretty fucking rich to argue about "Spheres of Influence" as someone who grew up with that great globohomo ZOG globalism spreader known as the Internet. You can go listen to what ISIS or the Unabomber or Jim Jones or whoever the fuck said in their own words and make up your own mind.

Kids should read about bone music, where Western records were disguised as medical X-rays to get past the censors. People went to prison for this shit.

There was a Ukrainian-born Soviet scholar (and 100% confirmed autist) who was instrumental in deciphering Mayan writing in the years after WWII, but he wasn't allowed to leave the country to go look at the ruins until 1990. One of the greatest scholars of the time but we can't let you go on a trip to Guatemala because you might decide to stay there.

Russia did this to themselves. A third of the Eurasian landmass was basically North Korea for 80 years where they sat in their shithole while the rest of the world enjoyed the 20th century.

But that's okay, because it provided a counterbalance to Chubby Checker!
Being threatened with prison over a bit of music is almost as ridiculous as being threatened for posting a sign that says "It's OK To Be White".

I watched Joe Biden's SOTU tonight.

Bashed Putler as expected, but said it in a weird way.

Also applauded some fat hoholina appointed by the kike of keef as the ambassador to the United States.

Inflation has been a global problem because the pandemic disrupted our supply chain, Putin’s unfair and brutal war in Ukraine disrupted energy supplies as well as food supplies, blocking all that grain in Ukraine. We are benefitting more than any other country on Earth right now, but we have more to do.

WTF did he mean by "unfair" lol?

Like has this old fuck been so desensitized to warmongering he sees war as a sports game literally.

I guess he meant "unjust" since it rhymes but "unfair" lol

I feel like SOTU addresses were more fun to listen to when Trump was around. Not just that, but U.S. politics in general is a fun spergfest during the Trump era, with Trump threatening WW3 to Russia over Ukraine. Now everything in the Biden era is boring doomposting and I like don't give a crap about Biden since he's literally a braindead puppet.

So it is not a gold backed currency. This was USD around 1950s.

Most of systems describedby folks as "gold standards" was de facto or de iure silver standards of bimetalic with some small denomination coins using metals other than gold and silver (but they face value was often comparable to the value of used copper/tin/other metal) - and this was case of many problems for economics. And yes, often country with gold standard hasn't the amount of gold to fully back their system (and this also served as a giant problem and finally ended gold standard), but it always was at least sufficent amount of gold to exchange 40-80% of circulating non-gold coins and banknotes in late phase of global gold standard. Also central banks was using a trick: they counted as gold for their banknotes another papers from foreign countries that was promising to be exchanged for gold. But hey, they promised that all of their banknotes will can be exchanged for gold, trust to gov bro :)

Some coins have no need to be exchanged to gold, because they was produced from gold (and this also was a huge problem, because they mostly wasn't in circulation - people preffered them to hoard if they can).

And when countries was using bimetalic system (some coins in silver, some in gold) they have to face with a problem with size of Kraken: when the intristic value of coin was going above face value coin was often not be in circulation (peoples was hoarding them or exporting to scrap them). This fucked up old sterling (old system when guinea was worth 21 shillings). So no, multimetalic system (gold, silver, platinum, pallad or other shit) is worse idea than gold standard.

World in 1870-1914 was less populated and poor, so even smaller amounts of gold that today was sufficent to this shitshow called gold standard.

Santions aren't working: https://www.reuters.com/markets/russias-jan-budget-deficit-widens-energy-revenues-slump-2023-02-06/

- oil and gas revenues were 46.4% lower at 426 billion roubles in January than in the same month last year

- Non-oil and gas revenues were 28% lower at 981 billion roubles, attributed to lower domestic VAT and income tax takings

- Overall, budget revenues for the month were down 35.1%, while spending was 58.7% higher in January 2023, at 3.12 trillion roubles, already more than 10% of the full-year spending plan.

Come ruzzia, come and made the ULTIMATE TRASNFER RUBLE which will detronize that good for nothing guff called USD.

So yeah, they ran something akin to a scam, a sustainable scam until they got too greedy and printed more than they could confidently redeem. Therefore collapsing the system? So. Humans tend to repeat history despite the lessons, so I assume they will try this again.

Sorry, but it fits perfectly.

On a related topic, in Ukraine, they began to offer to rent grannys to get a postponement from mobilization (to take care of old ladies).

Every so often, I decide to take a look thru my Spam folder to see what sort of shit it's filtering out. Every time I do, I see emails like the one below. This exact email has been mass-sent to me at least 10 times at this point.

Karl Marx was not a bad historian, but not a good prophet.
Russia once again shows how the irremovability of power ends.
In a few decades the country has become the pariah of the world.
It has become a homeland of murderers, a cradle of looters, a haven for criminals.
Your generation finally discredited the past and disfigured the future of their children and grandchildren.
They went to war and ended up at war.

Hotlines are open 24 hours a day.

How to surrender if you are alone:
Unbuckle the magazine and hang the gun on your left shoulder with the barrel down
Raise and show your empty hands
Pull up the white cloth.
Shout loudly, "Surrender!"
Approach on command.
Comply with the demands of the Ukrainians
How to surrender to a group or an entire unit:
Stack all weapons in front of you at a distant distance.
Stand directly in front of the military equipment. Silence it; it should not be in a fighting position.
Choose a negotiator to notify the Ukrainian military of your desire to surrender. This should be an officer or the most senior in rank. With a white flag and no weapons.
What guarantees are given to prisoners of war:
The right to life and respect for the prohibition of torture under international law.
Amnesty for those who voluntarily surrendered military equipment and laid down their weapons.
Telephone call to family and friends.
What happens to the military after captivity:
They are released by exchange for Ukrainian prisoners of war or after the war is over. They return to their country.
They are given back all seized property (money, valuable items).
Important: All those who voluntarily surrendered will be documented as captured in combat. This should protect servicemen from possible criminal prosecution after returning to their country.
Soldiers who surrendered to the AFU will also have the opportunity to join the international legion and fight with many of their compatriots for a free Russia. On anonymous terms.

President Zelenskyy will visit the UK today to meet Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and address parliament as the UK steps up its delivery of lethal aid into the country, and prepares to train fighter jet pilots and marines.
As part of today’s talks, the Prime Minister will offer to bolster the UK’s training offer for Ukrainian troops, including expanding it to fighter jet pilots to ensure Ukraine can defend its skies well into the future.

The training will ensure pilots are able to fly sophisticated NATO-standard fighter jets in the future. As part of that long-term capability investment, the UK will work with Ukraine and international allies to coordinate collective support to meet Ukraine’s defensive needs.

He will also offer to begin an immediate training programme for marines.

That training will be in addition to the recruit training programme already running in the UK, which has seen 10,000 Ukrainian troops brought to battle readiness in the last six months, and which will upskill a further 20,000 Ukrainian soldiers this year. The UK will continue to work with the Ukrainian Armed Forces and international community to scale the programme up in 2023.
The Prime Minister will also offer to provide Ukraine with longer range capabilities. This will disrupt Russia’s ability to continually target Ukraine’s civilian and critical national infrastructure and help relieve pressure on Ukraine’s frontlines.

It's weird how UK only has enough guns and equipment for itself to fight three days, but for Ukraine, oh boy, plenty, enough for many donations and enough to train 20k soldiers.

I was affraid that no one point that. If the all "we hav gunz for two to four dayz" was truth, that means stockpiles was smaller than sended to Ukraine.

Leopard 1 plot suggest that someone was not true&honest about dumping old weapons and about size of stockpilled weapon.

Don't wanna powerlevel too much but I've been involved with the TA In the UK, the Territorial Army which is our national guard, and I'm genuinely MATI at how badly equipped and trained we are compared to what we're giving Ukraine.

This is why we're a joke country.

Edit to make this on topic: I don't wanna see Ukrainian men die for lack of equipment but I also don't want them getting all of this shit when TA sections here are equipped with no AT weapons and shitty L85A1's and L86 LSW's in place of any support weapon. Want a MINIMI? L86. Want an L129? L86.

L86 is a fucking L85 with a long barrel btw.

I'm amazed at how many people in this thread are uncritically regurgitating obvious propaganda. I figured a website like this one which has suffered massive amounts of lies and disinformation in the media would have conditioned its users to be a little bit more skeptical.
Besides some obvious politically engaged users, a lot of people here seem to think that this is 4chan. There's a reason rest of the website resents Autistic Thunderdome - it invites the worst sort of user Internet has to offer and make them feel like they own the place.

So you have a lot of boomers/adolescents (two most impressionable groups), essentially turning this place into their own contrariant Daily Mail comment section.

More like intentionally promoting propaganda.
The Z and Russian idiocy in their profiles and their contributions to the site/reactions should tell you the whole story.
Ukraine does not have any one like this here. There's nobody glorifying its politicians. Nobody with avatars with Azov or w/e. Just some randoms that despise Russia for one reason or another. But that alone is intolerable and too much for the Zigtards.
