Fat Acceptance Movement / Fat Girlcows

BMI is a fundamentally flawed system as it doesn't take into account what your weight actually consists of. No-one with more than half a brain should take this study seriously.

This. Normally what it's mostly important is your Body fat percentage (BFP). If it's above 30 (F) or 25 (M) percent, it is considered obesity.

I've never minded bigger men/women showing it off before, to be honest; I admire their confidence. Despite not being a big woman myself, I couldn't wear or take the same photos that some of these people do; so fair play to them in that respect.

However, the blatant denial of some of their impeding health issues is horrifying to witness. They'd rather accept any excuse in regards to sickness etc other than that their overweight. It's pretty sad to be honest, really it's a full cycle of not being able to come to terms with how unhappy they are with their size.

I guess they can convince themselves that they are "happy" and "healthy" and "beautiful", however when the rest of society tells them, they are unhealthy and look like Jabba the Hutt, that falters immediately.
So they need to "fight" the "fatppression" -or whatever they call it- in favor of fat-acceptance so they one day do not have to fear being confronted with facts and reality.
And, mind you, noone walks up to some hamplanet and insults them to their face. I refuse to believe that happens on a daily basis like what they want us to believe. Sure, snickering behind their backs, stares - that, I can see happen regularly, but outright antagonizing would be very limited I assume.
So, they want to create a society where even aknowledging someone's massive overweight is frowned upon so harshly, noone will dare to do it.
Then, and only then, can they live in their blissful fantasyworld where 70% Bodyfat isn't the fucking expresstrain to a heart disease it actually is.

You aren't kidding.

I asked her if she ever felt cruel, beating and force feeding children?

"No! It's not cruel to make girls fat!" she said.

"Me, I've seen 10-year old girls give birth. I tell you, 10 years old!

"Once they are fat and beautiful they can serve their men well, once they are fat they can be married."

Why not bring back foot-binding while we're at it?

Some of those redesigns don't even look that different from the original look...Not to mention cartoons often are supposed to be drawn unrealistically and very stylized.

EDIT: Maybe it's just me, but I don't get the whole "wah i feel wrong for being fat bc cartoons make me insecure". Is this such a big problem? Power level but most fat people I've known say that their issues come from either bullying/teasing from friends, school or family or feeling insecure while walking out in the streets and being judged by "prettier" people. Cartoons and media barely seem to play a part in this.

Is BASIC RULE of stylization to exaggerate character feautures to create more distinct silhouette. Not war against fat people.

Yeah, it's another one of those stupid articles complaining that fantasy characters don't represent reality.
"The manga series “Dragon Ball” is a popular one that has sparked movies and even a television sequel called “Dragon Ball Z.” Sporting spiked hair and clad in either a school uniform or a martial arts uniform, Gohan, the son of the protagonist, is clearly a teen (although his true age numbers into the hundreds). However, teens are unlikely to see their physique being reflected in his defined chest and arms that ripple with muscles."

This person has never watched DBZ.

Goku's family train a lot so it makes sense the kids would have some muscle tone. One could easily turn their alterations of Daria (being unfair to flat-chested girls) and Shaggy (scrawny people exist).

It's also not impossible for teens to have muscular bodies, just not healthy. Not to mention DBZ is a fantasy series. These people take these things too seriously.
