Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

Glad they brought Fantasy Life and Ghost Trick back from the dead (hah), I spent a good amount of time playing the original DS/3DS titles.

Mildly hyped for the Splatoon DLC also, though mostly just for Wave 2. I don't have too much nostalgia for Splatoon 1 since I got into the games with Splatoon 2 so I don't really give a shit about the Inkopolis Plaza update.

There were a few games exclusive to the japanese Direct, namely a remake of Atelier Marie and a horror novel "Paranormasight" by Squeenix

Also looking forward to We Love Katamari, Pikmin 4, Baten Kaitos I+II, the Etrian Odyssey trilogy and Ghost Trick
I'm cautious about Advance Wars (due of being handled by WayForward and there is no planned japanese release date) and the Zelda sequel.

The voice acting in the Zelda trailer was god awful. Metroid Prime looks like its teetering on the edge of 'Hire This Man', and you know they are just sitting on the other two games. I honestly can't find myself to really care about Zelda, I didn't really like BoTW and it looks like they are just doubling down on everything, including the story. At least it looks like it will have more traditional puzzles and dungeons maybe?

Still no Xenoblade X port :( :( :(

That's the thing. I don't even know WTF this game has other than like cars and drones and shit in the sky. I really wish they would be clear on if there are real dungeons, maybe get into more about what exactly is changing in Hyrule, etc. etc.

I just can't get excited. All I see is overly cinematic presentation bullshit which I'm so sick of in gaming and especially didn't want in Zelda.

The Baten Kaitos remaster is weird, because I recall Namco straight up saying 'There is no market for a remaster of Xenosaga', but they went and remastered Baten Kaitos? Maybe this is a sign they will do a Xenosaga trilogy now?

The vagueness on what it even is, plus the price increase just kinda kills my desire to buy it. It's looking like it's gonna be more of the same, and as much as I liked BotW when it was new, its been like 6 years now and I don't think I wanna go through basically the same game again. I'd wait for a sale, but lol. Maybe I'll just get around to hacking my old Switch to pirate it and give it a shot someday.

- I really didn’t expect Samba of all things to come back, but the Joycons fit it well.
- Ghost Trick is… cool, I guess? Though it just looks like an upscaled port of the DS game.
- Decapolice looks like Persona with a little bit of Ace Attorney mixed in. Neat.
- Splatoon 3 Inkopolis is cool, but I’m still not getting S3. I don’t know why they called the first game “old school”, it’s only… wait, almost 8 years old? Fuck.
- OH THANK GOD MORE FIRE EMBLEM I WAS WORRIED WE MIGHT HAVE TO GO AN ENTIRE DIRECT WITHOUT MORE FUCKING FIRE EMBLEM
- Octopath and Kirby demos yesssss
- The Magolor mode in Kirby has upgraded this from “fine, I’ll get it” to HYPE
- Advance Wars finally, wasn’t it finished like a year ago?
- GB+GBC on normal Switch Online with GBA being expansion pass exclusive seems like a good compromise to me; the pass is actually worth the money now, especially since playing these games multiplayer isn’t exactly easy. I’m still just gonna emulate though.
- Full price Prime 1 remaster that looks basically the same as the original? Hard pass. I’d rather have a port of the Wii trilogy. EDIT: Actually, it’s only $40. Still bad.
- Layton’s back, and the Yoshi’s Island track looks great. Also Birdo.
- Tears of the Kingdom looks really good. And I’d bet just about anything Nintendo got the idea of that flying drone from the first game’s minecart magnesis glitch.

Overall, I thought it was good but not great. Enough to satisfy me.

In case anyone’s curious about that chibi baseball game, it costs a grand total of one dollar.
Thanks for paying for my copy
Don’t get your hopes up, I’m still thinking about breaking my self-imposed “don’t pirate new games” rule. Sooner or later, this will become the new standard for Nintendo.

This direct at a glance looks good until you sit down and think about it.

might as well give my thoughts considering that I probably look like a fool atm and have nothing better to do

>didn't expect Pikmin 4 right at the start but that got me more hyped than I should've been; I haven't played the games so I don't know what to say but i'm glad for the fans
>I never thought Samba would see the light of day again, that monkey freaks me out now just as much as it did when I was 4 and I really really want to make sure the person who designed him was actually fired immediately after. Otherwise- yeah, I guess it fits, the Switch is basically just the Wii 2 anyways (shit ton of ports from previous failed console, massive normie fanbase, unique gimmick, large-ish retro library, greedier practices and more emphasis on casuals later in life after an initial attempt to impress)
>I never expected Ghost Trick, but it looks like shit without the dual screens. I don't get the point of HD remakes of games like this when entire graphical overhauls would suit them much better. I've heard the game is good but i'd rather just pirate it and play on official hardware
>Splatoon DLC is exactly what I expected, except somehow lazier. I expected a similar-but-different rehash of the Octo Expansion alongside lazy rehashing of games 1 & 2, but I didn't expect them to literally just rip a map and then admit to changing almost nothing while revealing it (direct stated that Inkopolis sells the same gear, has the same splatfests, etc)
>lmao Engage really is just Heroes 2
>Kirby fans are eating really really good and I'm very glad to be one of them, but I still don't like Dreamland Deluxe's art style. Especially poor fucking Dedede. I've got family that wants it though so I might play.
>still need to wait 2 months for Advance Wars
>LMAO OF COURSE GBA IS EXPANSION-ONLY
>The only part of the Direct to make me audibly laugh out loud. Of course it's only the first game, of course there isn't news of the other two games or Prime 4 alongside it, of course there's almost no graphical change because video game graphics stagnated in the PS3 era- aaaand it's 40 dollars. Exceptional
>Genuinely salty that the Fantasy Life sequel is coming out now instead of four or five years ago when it would've looked way better in comparison to the rest of the Switch's catalogue and I would've been affectionate enough towards the first game to buy it no questions asked. Might pirate, but the graphics look Gamecube-tier to the point of being off-putting which really sucks because the original was my fucking jam and looked great.
>I forgot why i was hyped for TOTK. It looks cool, but did it seriously take them 6 years to make a game that's 70% BOTW again and 30% cars? The map looks very similar, the graphics seem identical- what were they working on? I don't have hopes for the story since it seems mostly cinematic and BOTW's was milque-toast, but I'm willing to believe that might be what they're riding on.
Anyways, it's still BOTW so I'm sure it'll be enjoyable. Especially since I haven't played the original in a little while now. The trailer just makes me question what else there is to get excited for. Hopefully i'll find out when I pirate/buy.

Overall it was surprisingly predictable with maybe one or two very minor surprises but decent news otherwise, maybe. Very very Nintendo-y.
I feel like a little bit of an idiot for thinking the $70 thing could've been an error, but oh well. Optimism only hurts egos, i'll be fine.
All i'm seeing around me is people decrying the Direct as total shit; if anyone here shares that opinion, can you clarify why? I thought it was sorta decent, maybe even good. Are Nintendo fans just salty about shit like no Silksong again

I am currently downloading Metroid Prime (dude made a torrent and forgot to seed it, have to do slow download), I will let you guys know how they inevitably ruined it.

Holy shit did that Direct suck. Just a bunch of ports, DLC, and filler. The Zelda should've been DLC because nothing showed looks worthy of being a separate game. The only decent thing to come out of the Direct was Pikmin 4. Nintendo really has lost their touch.
How many times has something similar been said about a Nintendo direct?

I like some of what was shown but, as with most directs, nothing in there wow'd me.

What Gamecube ports did the Wii get? I can’t think of a single one unless you want to be really desperate and count Twilight Princess.

Has there ever been a single direct where a vocal minority didn’t cry about it being shit? I get it, not every announcement can be Mother Kong Silksong GX: Fighter Pass 3, but I’m happy to get a few announcements of new interesting games and surprise demos. Especially compared to something like a Microsoft E3 where every game looks pretty good but not good enough to actually buy.
