Tyranny is great when you or your proxy is the tyrant.

It also helps to understand that racist, sexism, and alt-right are all highly subjective and unfalsifiable. If someone accuses you of being racist, sexist, or alt-right, then that's it. There's no way to prove you are not, and you can't go buying indulgences from Al Sharpton, RuPaul, or Greta.

I looked up both the user, weneedItachi (I hope you're sitting down, he's got the hammer & sickle, and pronouns in his bio,) and the article. I have a feeling that weneedItachi is Indian based on looking at quite a few of his retweets and also his background picture.



I find the article to be of little substance and much of the reactions in it to be, frankly, fucking stupid. What I mean specifically is this framing of the POWs as simultaneously these ex-bloodthirsty monsters, but also moral superiors to white America of the 40s; there's a big difference between simping for Nazis and acknowledging that, no, many were just young men fighting for their country (some because of the draft) as is the case in any war. Secondly, the title acts as if these captured Nazis were acting ever so offended by the treatment of black soldiers or something.

In fact most of the article actually focuses on the German POW experience of being brought to Texas rather than focusing on the German interactions with black soldiers. Here's basically all that's actually talked about regarding the German-black interactions:

Another fun thing that gets missed is that American slaves actually had it better than some of their contemporaries in other countries. For example, in the West Indies it was not uncommon to punish unproductive slaves with amputations. So as inhumane as slavery was in the states, it was still better than it could've been (not that the slaves would have known).

Also, France abolished slavery in their cities in the 1300s, and later abolished it in all their colonies in the 1790s... only for Napoleon to bring it back for 13 years in the 1800s. You'd think you'd hear more about Napoleon being a pice of shit for that, but the discourse about slavery is driven by Americans who have no idea what happens outside of their own history.

The metaphor's bad anyway. Accountants and insurance agents might have stakes in what a plumber does, but they are not the ones directly paying the plumber. On the other hand, a property owner should have every right to give input on how they want the plumbing done and what procedures are done for maintenance instead of letting the plumber use dangerous materials or engage in wasteful actions simply because “they don't know how what their property needs.” The same concept applies to parents needing to be able to have input on what their kids learn and how they learn it, you can't just let schools teach useless and harmful things or teach in a way that is unproductive.
