Left-wing activist baker who believes in abolishing police dies after robbers mowed her down at bank in Oakland - Victim's family says murderers shouldn't go to jail

Jennifer Angel, 48, founded Angel Cakes bakery in Oakland in 2008. Prior to that, she was a publisher of what she described as 'radical, progressive' magazines and a publicist for authors.

On Monday, Angel was leaving her car in front of a bank in uptown Oakland when two robbers smashed her car window and ran off with her belongings, her fiance Ocean Mottley said.

She then went after the robbers' getaway car, catching up with it but getting trapped in its door and being dragged over 50 feet. Her head was crushed on the sidewalk and the car drove away.

By Thursday, her family had confirmed her death after spending days in a coma at a local hospital.

While local authorities investigate her death as a homicide, the family has requested that her brutal killers not be sent to jail.

In a statement on a GoFundMe that has raised over $130,000 as of Saturday, those close to her said they would pursue 'alternatives' to prison for the criminals.

'As a long-time social movement activist and anarchist, Jen did not believe in state violence, carceral punishment, or incarceration as an effective or just solution to social violence and inequity,' they wrote.

They added: 'We know Jen would not want to continue the cycle of harm by bringing state-sanctioned violence to those involved in her death or to other members of Oakland's rich community.'

In fact, she once bragged on Facebook that she had taught her employees to do what she does and 'never call the cops.'

Emily Harris, a close friend of Angel and an 'anti-prison director,' told the San Francisco Chronicle that the statement fits with her radical liberal principles.

'I think Jen would affirm that of course that's what people have been trained to believe is the answer, to lock people up,' Harris said. 'But we know that if the people who cause her harm are sent to jail, all we're doing is perpetuating more harm.'

Her bake shop's website even included a statement of political beliefs.

'[Angel] believes that Black Lives Matter and that every person has the right to choose their own gender identity and gender expression,' the store's 'About Us' section proclaims.

'As a shop we strive to reduce waste through limiting use of plastics and choosing products that are gentle on the environment. We do our best to be a good neighbor and community member through donating to and providing desserts for various social justice efforts, particularly in the areas of environmental justice, housing, and criminal justice reform.'

I just can't wrap my head around people like this.

Some joggers mugged and then killed my daughter so my first act is to say to no prosecute them?

Yah that's true. I wouldn't ask for police either as I know they'd get off easy. I'd go for my rifle and make sure they got the correct type of justice.

But saying publicly that it's ok that my only daughter got killed because it was by joggers is straight up fucking nuts. These people are 100% insane.

Social Justice...not even once.

There's no limits to their insanity. Consider Amy Biehl's case for example.

As she drove three friends home to the township of Gugulethu, outside Cape Town, on August 25, 1993, a mob pulled her from the car and stabbed and stoned her to death.[1][3] The attack on the car driven by her was one of many incidents of general lawlessness on the N1 highway that afternoon. Bands of toyi-toying youths threw stones at delivery vehicles and cars driven by white people. One delivery vehicle was toppled over and set alight, and only the arrival of the police prevented more damage. There was evidence that some of the possessions belonging to her and the passengers were stolen.[4]

According to Rex van Schalkwyk, in his 1998 book One Miracle Is Not Enough, "Supporters of the three men accused of murdering [her]… burst out laughing in the public gallery of the Supreme Court today when a witness told how the battered woman groaned in pain." (pp. 188–89.) Four people were convicted of killing her.[5]: 17–18

Pardons[edit]

In 1998, all were pardoned by South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission, when they stated that their actions had been politically motivated.[2]: 71

Biehl's family supported the release of the men.[2]: 71  Her father shook their hands and stated, The most important vehicle of reconciliation is open and honest dialogue... we are here to reconcile a human life [that] was taken without an opportunity for dialogue. When we are finished with this process we must move forward with linked arms.[6]

Imagine thinking you are a moral and good person with this fake show of virtue. "Yeah, you killed our kid, but she hated cops so we seek something for them besides prison?" - I hope they force them to work community service, and the same bangers who killed their daughter end up breaking into their home and murdering them.
Before starting her bake shop, Angel was an editor of the left-wing publication Clamor and also worked for the seminal punk rock journal MaximumRocknRoll, as well as a personal zine entitled F**ktooth.

Leftist outlet Democracy Now and radical Canadian punk rockers Propagandhi were among those to celebrate Angel in her wake.
propagandhi
A pop-punk band consisting of white vegan commies who do nothing but whine all day and think they would be accepted anywhere besides the west that tolerates them? lol. Even Jello called them out for being whiny gay fucks who literally be murdered if they lived anywhere else.

Also, I can't think of anything more punk rock than starting a faggy artisan cupcake store and selling diabetes to all the niggers you can.

If nothing else, you have to give her credit for living dying by her beliefs.

The only acceptable reason you don't want the police or prison invovled in your family member's murder is you intend to take care of it faster than they can..... otherwise, my God, end yourselves. Just lay down in the street and let the world grind you into paste, you deserve no better if you won't even take issue with this injustice.
