Try and explain to a nigger that his ancestors were kept in luxury compared to White slaves the Roman Republic (and later Empire) siezed from Gaul or Germania (who often ended up as Galley Slaves, or in mines forces to work in chains) and they hit the roof though.
In general Chinese Coolies were treated far worse than niggers on Plantations over here, they were particularly sought for mine work as they could be forced to work on their knees so required smaller drifts.
For truly brutal conditions though, the Ancient Near and Far East are hard to beat.

Yes, Middle-Eastern and African slave trade is both older and more savage than the Atlantic Trade. Alot of scientific work and study was done in Arabic at one time, but generally not done by ethnic arabs. The science was largely the legacy of the pre-Islamic cultures in were conquered by arabic islam: Persian, Greek, Mesopotamian and so on. I heard a story too once from a slave owner descendant my family knew. They said their ancestor beat a slave to death for looking at his daughter funny. Not true, that's why the Southern elite were hellbent on expanding slavery and even were using slaves in ironworks and factories. And let's get real, Johnny Whiteboy isn't getting his kids sold across the state like Rastus the Negro. He lives in a slightly nicer hovel too than the slave quarters. Compare old reconstructed pioneer settlements in the South (these houses were those of the poor too in the 19th century) to slave quarters on the plantations, slave quarters were more cramped.
