The "underqualified" part comes from her frequent retcons of worldbuilding elements, and sloppy plot points(many, MANY problems are solved with tactical use of polyjuice potions or the literal time machine "time-turner" which is conveniently lost right after it's revealed and used by Harry from Hermoine, but they're an uncommon item that every wizarding government branch has MULTIPLES of!). It's very clear it was all made up as the books went along, and elements that should've been closed up or abandoned were instead built upon with even more rickety bullshit.
Contemporary series off the top of my head were
- Artemis Fowl
- Eragon series
- the Mortal Instruments series
- the Percy Jackson & the Olympians series
- Guardians of Gahoole
These all got movies later(I think), presumably based off of Harry Potter's success but despite there being arguably better books out there, their theatrical releases got butchered(especially Eragon's from my memory). A few one-off books did well, I particularly liked the film adaptations of Paper Towns, Perks of Being a Wallflower & Ready Player One, even if they weren't runaway successes at the box office & were middling to critics. I think Eragon & Percy Jackson had the most potential to rival Potter as worldbuilding extravaganzas that could've been made into merchandise & theme parks, but for whatever reason weren't handled correctly.
That new "eat skin I picked off my neck" video was disgusting, I'd rather see that fat weasel eat a booger than dried residue off his hide.
Thankfully we have sister Abby for that mental image instead.

If I recall correctly, the troon's response was "well those are corporations, there's nothing we can do about them, JKR is an individual person!" as if corporations are just natural phenomenon like hurricanes that have nothing to do with human beings and corporations had nothing to do with making this game... it was ridiculous.
Similar attempts along the lines of "Lovecraft was a massive racist but you don't go after anyone who has anything to do with his work" were met with "well he's dead so that's different, JKR is alive and speading wrongthink as we type!"
Basically they will always have a convenient excuse for why they don't go after fans of so-and-so or why XYZ's actually terrible content is nothing like JKR's allegedly terrible content and thus they just can't go after them like they go after her, etc. What it really boils down to is that JKR is an individual woman and they hate women, especially women who won't cater to and serve them, so they feel the need to destroy her. Lovecraft was a man, Disney is a corporation created by a man and run by men, etc. so they just don't care what they do. Not to mention they don't actually give a shit about racism or anti-Semitism in the first place; the whole point of this farce was to try to find a reason that normies would want to boycott the game because "transphobia" wasn't working.

It's literally the mentality of an abuser. This is how abusers act. When "if you leave me I'll kill myself and it'll be all your fault!" doesn't work, they get angry and become verbally and often physically abusive. I've seen so many women report that they could see the change visibly in their abusive exes when they finally had enough and said "no, I'm still leaving, if you kill yourself that's on you, not me" before they started screaming at them or trying to assault them. Scary shit. Except this isn't one jackass pulling this shit on his girlfriend, this is thousands and thousands of men ganging up on individual women, any woman who says no to them. It's honestly horrifying when you think of it.
I could probably write an essay on how the trans community embraces and encourages the mentality and behavior of domestic abusers on a wide scale, but... who has the time for that? It's really obvious with the way they treat women who defy them, though. At their heart, trannies are the most patriarchal, misogynistic men around, and they firmly believe a woman's job is to feed them, coddle them and give them blowjobs on demand, and god help any woman who doesn't fill that role. Funny how they all claim to be "feminists," in light of that.

The HP time travel is the perfect loop system - it's impossible to actually change the past, the best it does is allow you to be in 2 places at once for a couple hours. And even then, she realized she created too powerful a magic item so set up a situation to destroy them 2 books later. The world building is inconsistent and there are a lot of bits where you can tell she was making it up as she goes along, the Marauders Map is another one where she kept having to figure out how to make it disappear for a bit, but there were attempts.
There's subtext of Dumbledore being gay but it was never stated straight up. The reveal was in an interview after 7 was released. Even then she had to clarify later "it wasn't unrequited or light romance, Dumbledore and Grindelwald were having lots of gay sex" at some point too. But it's never actually in the books that they had more than a friendship.
