Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

Nobody has anyone to blame but themselves. Is the whole situation scummy? Sure, but it's time to stop blaming developers/publishers and start blaming ourselves for being too fucking retarded to just stop buying these games that continuously suck ass and are exploitatively.
Your average gamer today is absolutely retarded and will buy an unfinished Triple-A piece of shit riddled with monetization schemes and endlessly complain about it while still continuing to buy this kind of trash.

What the fuck happened to gaming?

I'm not laying this all at Microsoft's feet; but the introduction of the XBOX and Halo had a massive push of catapulting videogames into the mainstream. With a larger consumer base, comes larger profits, comes corporate bloat, comes bad consumer practices, and a whole host of other things that happen when people start realizing there's an untapped market for money. Then you have the companies on one side and the idiot consumers on the other, who feed each other in a feedback loop that says the customers want to be treated like domesticated cows and milked for everything they're worth.

Pretty much, videogames got the attention of investors, and they started to ruin shit.

"Soulslike" is a retarded term that needs to be annihilated, including the phrases "It's just like Dark Souls," and "the Dark Souls of (blank)."

Dark Souls did not invent difficulty, stamina bars and all of existence. Stop comparing everything to it, you autist.

"Kiwi Farms is the Dark Souls of transphobia."
The other day I saw people circlejerking about the greatness of Fromsoft and they would say shit like "you can lock-on to enemies like in DS" and "the boss has a lifebar like in DS", then "man this game is so influential, everyone is copying it". That's right, we wouldn't have lock-on and lifebars on bosses without Fromsoft.

Also I'm too lazy to go a few pages back to quote, but I saw mention of jrpg being shit. I can confirm, a lot of them aren't too engaging and are complicated right from the start. It calls itself "rich, deep system with tons of possibilities, branching, combos, etc." but it's mostly too many windows and options even just for simple attacks. Lots of autistic, long animations. Lots of grind. And for what? Give me an incentive to play, like good dialogues or a decent story at least. And there's so many of those being made, I'm not even sure who keeps buying them. I MAY have gotten 2 or 3 during my weeb phase in highschool, but barely put 10 hours in any of them, it's like animu hype is the reason you buy it, but it sucks so you don't play it. People can discuss which FF is best and which ones are overrated and shit, but no one will remember random jrpg trash like Cross Edge and Agarest.

At the surface this is a spicy opinion, but it is not: I don't like people that cheat in single player games.
All weapons in GTA or similar games, that's fine, you're making your own fun, those cheats are implemented for a reason.

The cheaters that I dislike are the ones that looks up exploits and glitches to use right at the start or even before they play the game. Games like Dark souls and Elden Ring can be used as examples. There are players that never fought [some boss] because they had already looked up an exploit and knew that you could crouch in a specific corner and craft/shoot 2,500 fletchless arrows with the starting bow instead of ever engaging in combat. They think they outsmarted the game.
They do these things and then return to the overall game discussion. What they don't realize is that they are now gameplay mongoloids because they played the game in a retarded way.

Brianna Wu is a good example of one of these people, hesitant of getting into games like DS and ER without first learning if there are any exploits for infinite souls/runes, what is the most unintentionally overpowered build, what can be cheesed and so on, then bragging about having all this expert knowledge and how he outsmarted the game.

DSP is a similar brand of retard. One example I can think of is when he beat the final boss of Zelda 2. As soon as the fight begins, he immediately heads to left, where there is a known exploit where you can crouch and stab Dark Link to completely cheese the fight. However, DSP wants to pretend he "discovered" it, so he then proceeds to pretend to fight Dark Link normally. On his next life, he again walks to the left, and allows Dark Link to bash him into the corner, where he proceeds to use the exploit. Cue mugging to the camera about how he "figured out" how to beat Dark Link.

Of course, DSP proceeds to tattle on himself by saying "you don't need no Power Glove!" while he masturbates his ego. DSP has repeatedly cited AVGN as one of his inspirations, and if one reviews James' video on that game...

Why? I assume, with 100% certainty, that you're a PC player so what kind of mods will scratch your bug for thousands of hours? Iron sights?
(it's porn)

I can think of a few other examples of Shmups with narratives if need be.

Advanced Busterhawk Gleylancer boots up with a long introductory cutscene explaining how the heroine's father got kidnapped by aliens, so she runs off to hijack an advanced prototype spacecraft in attempt to go rescue him.

Periodically, the game gives you additional cutscenes to further develop the plot, which makes it more interesting and memorable as a game in my mind.
Oooh right I do know Gleylancer. Come to think of it, Gradius V is pretty talky, but I never got around to finishing it.

Reminds me of an theory I heard awhile back.

Essentially if you are done with schooling then you are not the target audience for games. Children are who games are made for and they are happy with garbage quality content.

I feel it holds some weight. Still, you can find games that are gems but it won't be in the mainstream.

And even what you said would be more correct 20 years ago. Nowadays every single game is heavy and one-sided jewish propaganda channel funnel and you can't avoid it in any way, so by playing vidya you're essentially letting your brain get accustomed to it and what do you get in return?

Few hours (lmao at me thinking anyone does "a few hours" of vidya hahaha) of meaningless leisure time.

Imagine a world where people invest in sport, any sport, the same amount of their top 3 steam jerkoff vidya hours. Hahhaha I'm busting laughing just thinking about this, just envisionning all the fat dumb cunts who do mental gymnastics for playing a vidya ever since they get their drivers license, it's crazy lol. Just admit it - I'm a dope fiend, vidya is my dope, some people shoot heroin up their veins and ruin their life and of those around them, I do it with vidya (cause I don't have the guts for the needle) and that's it.

Nobody can tell me one single worthy "lesson" picked up in a vidya, it's all hogwash mushbrain pointless jew timestealer. Enjoy pissing away your time. Play MORE to spite people like me, go get more steam games NOW so faggets like me get more mad and scream at the clouds because someone plays vidya.

Learned English as a kid. Learned python and algorithms on graphs as a young adult. Both were irreplaceable at the time. My business grew out of these, I run a transport/logistics consultancy.

Many people learn history playing games like Crusader Kings and such, more instructive and less biased than the faggotology they would've likely found if they logged off.

Some unfortunate children learn and practice basic skills (reading, logic, arithmetics) in vidya. For some of them, there's no point to log off because there's nothing but fentanyl wastelands outside.

The unflatteringly portrayed troon in Hogwarts Legacy is not a win. Content for children shouldn't contain depictions of adult fetishes.

The fact that the God of War devs used DSP as a reference for dumbing down games for modern audiences is both hilarious and depressing.

I like detailed, slow, obnoxious animations, anything less than that is us technologically regressing, and this goes 100x more so if it's a simulator. If I'm autistic enough to boot up something that literally has "Simulator" in the title, then I full well expect to see my dude's hands actually pick up and move objects.

I always figure they're traditionally made by nerds who want to flex their design skills and make something fun. The ones that aren't designed by commities, anyway.

A "soulslike" just means a game that is designed to be played in a similar manner to Dark Souls, and unfortunately the series is now a benchmark for game difficulty so anything being called the "Dark Souls of x" just means that it's harder than mainstream slop like Assassin's Creed or Dad of Boy.
I've started to grow bored with games more and more the farther away from school I've gotten.
One of the issues I'm having is that modern games often tend to be dumbed down in order to appeal to dumb redditors, as a fan of strategy games it's an absolute travesty that the genre is dominated by Paradox and CA who's latest offerings are peak redditcore, and in the former's case a complete and total downgrade from the game that it's a sequel of and most likely completely unsalvageable since it's a game about the Victorian era that's being developed by a bunch of fucking commies.

Trannies have an aversion to playing games properly and instead try to break and exploit them for reasons unknown to us normal people, I suspect it's a reflection of them trying to cheat nature by pretending to be a woman but this time it actually works.

Often times I make a judgement on whether someone's opinions are worthwhile or not solely based on their pfp, you are not proving me wrong.
